Really terrible. Doesn't care about you or anyone. doesn't teach quantitative problems and expects everyone to get them right. If ur gonna take this class study everyday every quantitative question. Search online, get tutoring and work hard yourself and teach yourself. It's pretty much not worth listening to her. You can learn more on your own.

I personally love Professor Layish. The course is difficult, but I really loved putting in the work. It is one of the only courses that actually made me use my brain to think rather than just straight memorizing things. I loved this class and people who rated it bad just didn't know how to study for it or didn't want to put in the work.

Tough class but thats cuz of her not necessarily the material since its an intro class. Study her practice tests, do the h.w, and do the bonus extra credit and youll be solid. Barely read the text but her review sessions were helpful. She has gone easier compared to before so thats was a plus. Overall a great teacher and really knows Finance.

Terrible professor. Very uncaring and makes the class way harder than it needs to be (this is an introductory finance course). Sad thing is she's the only professor you can take. Only positive thing about this class is partial credit on multiple choice test questions. Overall, worst professor I've ever had. Good luck.

The course is hands down a difficult course. You will simply be going against her not necessarily the material. You better hope the class last semester did not do so well on the exams because if so, she'll make it harder to decrease the avg score. Going to class can be a hit or miss. Pro, youll have somewhat of a background. Con struggle for notes

She is the best professor in SOM. However, the course is not easy since there are four exams and the final is accumulative, the first test is the hardest one. She also grading ethic essay so harshly so be prepared for this battle........

Hit the ground running. She doesn't take attendance but DO NOT SKIP CLASS. Her slides won't make sense out of context. Read the textbook before class, do the assignments independently, and DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. Don't miss an opportunity to pick up points. Prof. Layish is very fair and gives partial credit for multiple choice on exams

there are a lot of components to your grade in this class, which is what makes it hard. class is good, but not important for the tests. make sure you do the homework bc they will help u learn the material. don't rely on your friends and have them send u the answers the night before it is due. not actually doing the homework was my biggest regret

Fin 311 is the hardest class in SOM, but the most useful. What a valuable class and awesome class. She is a great professor that truly prepares students for financial challenges that they will face. #IsurvuvedFin311

Hardest and most useful class. I have learned more in this class than in any class thus far. Yes, you have to study 5-7 days prior to an exam, but they aren't impossible. Getting a C+ isn't the worst grade ever, especially being this is the hardest class in SOM. She is your only option, but a very good one. Get ready to work hard! #ISurvivedFIN311

Easily one of the hardest class you will take in SOM. Although it is tough to get in the 'A' range it totally possible if you put in A LOT of work and do well on every other aspect of the class besides the exams. Final is impossible so be prepared.

Her class is difficult but her lecture notes are very useful. You have to spend days before an exam to study for everything and she always tries to come up with little twists in the actual exam to throw you off. If you try to negotiate your grade with her at the end of semester, do not email her cause she will ignore them just go to office hours.

It's undoubtedly the most difficult of the J-core classes but if you are willing to put in the extra effort to fully grasp the concepts, there is no reason you shouldn't be earning a B+/A-.

One of the tougher professors in SOM and that's coming from a former Chem student. However, she is the most caring, understanding, and passionate professor I've had so far in Binghamton. She wants you to succeed so long as you put in the work.

Layish makes extremely tough exams and gives daily homeworks and weekly quizzes. She is definitely very accessible and helpful if you email her to meet her in her office. Lectures a bit too quickly however her lectures and notes are very helpful and comprehensive.

It's a pretty hard course to be honest. But if you put in the work, a B+, A- is easy. Only 55% of class was based on 4 tests, the other was all hw. Go to her lectures, she's a great finance teacher, it'll help you understand it. Her tests are tricky, but she wants to see you do well. It's important to understand the concepts BEHIND the problems.
