Awful professor. I made an A in this class only by the grace of all things holy and unholy. I would NOT recommend this professor. He gives a lot of extra credit, both in class and out of class, I think he gave 50 points of extra credit and the class was out of 300 (350 with EC). Hard as heck and you'll wanna die. May the odds be in your favor.

Had many problems with this prof. - I got a 79.667% in his class and received a C. He's that kind of teacher. - Class is incredibly boring and not engaging - I don't do well with test-only classes. extra credit assignments and cheat sheets on tests helped me pass. - He coasted through the semester. Told us he was about to retire at beginning

Not happy with him and the way he teaches. He just reads off the PP slides and you can't hear him at all. His tests do not reflect the book or the PP slides at all. Speaking of the book, don't waste your money. He doesn't even use it anyway. I read the book and still failed every test

Comment:

The most boring class I've ever taken. He lectures the whole time but you cant hear a word he says, he obviously doesn't care about the material or anyone in the class. the grade is based off of 3 difficult test out of 100 points each . The only good thing about this class is that he tends to give extra credit.

It was an easy class with lots of bonus. I just studied the night before the test and did fine. Plus he lets you have a cheat sheet for the 2nd and 3rd exam. The final is not cumulative!

He is a great teacher, even though he has low evaluate, but I still think he can teach us a lot. we can get a lot of bones from this class. easy to get an A.

Hearth is the worst lecturer I have ever had. He is too intelligent to be teaching and thinks all of his students are stupid for not immediately grasping every concept he introduces. He jumps around in lectures and doesn't clearly define the content on the exams. Try not to take him if possible.

Comment:

Don't take Hearth if you can help it. Gives nearly no indication of what will be on his tests and is impossible to pay attention to during his lectures. He does give a good amount of bonus points which can help boost your grade, but his attitude towards students and the difficulty of his tests means you should really try to get a different teacher

Hearth is the worst teacher I've ever taken. He does give a lot of extra credit if you attend class, but the tests are very difficult and he does not provide any study material other than vague class slides. I had difficulty getting my questions explained during his office hours. I would recommend avoiding him.

He knows what he's talking about but in class he is the most boring, monotone, and useless teacher I have ever had. He does not help you understand the material in the slightest because all he does is directly read off of his poorly laid out powerpoints. The only good thing is he gives a lot of bonus points if you can manage to sit through class.

Comment:

Investment class is one of the harder classes in Finance discipline, thus you shouldn't be expecting an easy grade from this class. Hearth is a fair teacher, old and wrote the text book that we used for the course, thus he knows what he is talking about. He is helpful and generous giving out extra credit, however you will have challenging work.

provides slides before class. lectures are long. textbook is pointless to purchase. 3 tests 100 points a piece but there is about 40 points EC, will need to be in class for some of them. teacher knows his material. However, he is just not the best a teaching. soft spoken, will need to sit in the first 5 rows to hear him. no reviews for tests.

Hearth's class is based on your three test scores only plus extra credit points. It is quite difficult, but it is very organized. His lectures are monotone, but what better can you expect from a finance class? Really nice guy. Did not buy the textbook, and did not ever need one.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is the worst teacher I've ever had!!! He stands at the front of the room and reads directly from the slides. He mumbles and looks at the ground the whole class, and asked to speak up. He will tell you to move to the front row, that is already full. His tests don't reflect anything on the PP or book. I would never take him again.

Awful... Despite reading reviews prior to the start of the course, he was the only one available to match the schedule I needed. I was optimistic that students were just bitter...wrong..he's so awful.Really difficult tests which stinks because your grade is based solemnly off them. Cheat sheet doesn't help.Couldn't care less is the impression left.

He was AWFUL. Didn't go to class, but it hardly mattered because it was impossible to take notes because all he did was read word for word off of the power points and also couldn't hear him unless you were standing right next to him. The only reason to go to class is to get the passwords for the online quizzes and the extra bonus points. Good luck.

Probably the worst professor I've had in college. His lectures are insanely boring because he simply reads off his power point and expects you to already know everything he's saying. Doesnt take the time to actually teach and explain any of the material.

He wrote the textbook for the class and he will whisper the entire book to you during lecture. BORING...Class covers quite a bit of info, cheat sheets for test front and back. Tough to stay interested during lecture. If you're going to be that boring, at least let us use our phones.
