If your a DSPS student or if your a visual learner, this is not the right professor for you. He's retiring, so I doubt that you'll have him. If you need to take that class, take it with Jennifer Jett or wait until you found the right professor for you.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that because he (seems?) not to care during class that he is going to be a breeze to pass. He grades hard. It almost seems as if he marks things wrong for the sake of marking things wrong. Doesn't give much feedback either. You do get to use notes on everything. 2 papers worth 30% each. Watch out for punctuation.

Professor Barton might be one of the best lecturers I've ever encountered. His lecturers(3 hours long) are packed with amazing information and he's funny. He doesn't seem to be very interested in giving or grading assignments, probably because he is getting ready to retire. Sometimes he is kind of vague on assignments, particularly on essays.

He seems like he is bored most of the time, but he is not, it's just his personality. The class may be hard if you are not the best writer, but that is what B60 is for, to prepare you for the next level and to pass the Fee. You will need the books so get them!Attendance is mandatory and there are are about 4 practice Fees, i learned a lot.

Dr. Barton was very monotone. He seemed like he did not want to be there (just like the students.) I guess someone with a doctrine doesn't want to teach at a community college.

He grades very strictly on the papers, but he tells you exactly how the paper should be written.Follow the format and you'll do well. The research paper has a rough draft and a revision, which is very helpful! He is very helpful. However, his lectures are rather boring. Allows notes on all the quizzes, midterm and final.

Dr.Barton is awesome! He grades his papers really hard but EVERYTHING is open note and you get to do a revision for your final essay. For the final its a multiple choice open book and note test. He provides all research needed for the essays and expects you to incorporate the research in your essays. Great class!

This guy is awesome! Make sure you take him if you need B60. He was a great teacher and I learned tons from him. Not easy to get an A in his class, if even possible. Teaches you how to pass the fee with flawless results.

Possibly the BEST professor I've taken, but this is because I'm an English major. He grades very strictly, but I highly recommend if you don't want homework. You're allowed to use notes & books for tests. EASY for tests, essays are what you need to watch out for. There were two, but they were TOUGH. Got my first C in English.

Dr. Barton is more relaxed the second time around. it seems that he has a lot more fun when he's actually interested in the material he teaches, and luckily he likes the 30B stuff. This professor knows his stuff. Take him, you can't go wrong.

he comes into class and lectures AT the class, no to the class. He requires a lot of reading, and quizzes you on the reading. he only has 2 papers due the entire course. there was a test, a midterm, and a final. he lets you use all your notes and books during them. he was a tough grader, but the class is OK overall.

Barton is one of the best lecturers on campus, however considering how knowledgable of literature he is, he does expect the students to write as if they were working on a master's degree. Very hard grader, but an enjoyable teacher overall.

3 hours is a bit much for American Lit, but he mixes it up a bit. Requires a lot of reading, but the tests are simple. Grades pretty harshly, though.
