Comment:

Prof J is such a sweetheart! She truly cares about her students and tries to prompt meaningful discussionsnot painful or too hardin a healthy space. Just make sure you're ok with participating a few times per class. The workload is manageable but you can Sparknote readings if necessary. Also, if you're a Harry Potter & Disney fan, she is too!

Her class was very lecture heavy & not engaging. She would get upset with the class when no one would participate, but she failed to set up an engaging class environment. She assigns a lot of reading but there is not a ton of work for this class. She's a nice woman but seemed to favor only a few select students. Easy class but extremely boring

Dr. J is such a nice woman who gladly gives help but probably the most harsh grader I have ever encountered. She absolutely rips apart people's papers and tends to read things quite literally. The trick I learned was to phrase things in a way she had never previously considered. Doing that is what got me an A on my research paper, what a miracle.

Comment:

Very kind lady but uninteresting class. Took to learn basics about Greek mythology but the amount of reading she assigns is INSANE and I didn't know much about the subject to begin with so it's been very overwhelming. Thinks a C is a good grade so it's hard to do well. If you like reading and Greek mythology in abundance this is the class for you!

One of my favorite teachers from my freshman year at chapman. She is consistent in her grading and expectations. Dr J cares about her students & loves the material, which makes the class 1000X more interesting. She's kind and understanding, and just an excellent teacher who knows her material. Highly recommend her Brit Lit. One of my best classes.

Dr. J is the BEST! I learnt more about Harry Potter and Medieval England than I did Greek Mythology (and that's saying a lot because we learnt a lot of material in our FFC class) but she's a pleasure to be taught by and I really look up to her! I'd recommend taking ANY of her classes because she's just AMAZING

Dr. J is great! She is genuinely interested in the subject and it shows. The class itself was really cool, I think, there is a lot of reading involved but you can skim and get by. Field trips were cool and she was flexible if you missed one and had to go later. I definitely recommend this class!

Do NOT take this class! Unless you like reading 5,000 pages of material for every class that is only discussed for a maximum of five ****ing mintues... be my guest. Excessive amount of material. Tests are essay stle, so if you can write and are decent at studying points you should be fine. Field trips fall on lame times, but are worthwhile. GRRRRR

I had her for FFC 113 MYTH, and it rocked. You have to like the topic, otherwise discussions will bore you. She really analyzes well, and takes papers early and gives you really good and specific feedback. She's a teacher and good person. Makes you want to work hard, and draws out the themes and stories. I took Dr. Jankowski's Medievalism class as a graduate student, and I was so happy with how that turned out that I asked her to be a member of my thesis committee. She's great at responding to student concerns, as long as you're really working on the reading material, and she's always willing to help with ideas for papers. Great teacher!

An amazing teacher! Truly knows the subject matter she is teaching and is always helpful in any way possible. Also a very fair grader not an easy A, but with a bit of effort it is definitely possible to do well, up to and including getting A's. Class involves a lot of reading, but is highly discussion based; grading is done mostly on writings.
