An interesting character. Seems to be an odd guy and is controversial in some of his theology. Still a good teacher though. Seems to be a pushover when it comes to marking but is in fact a little more severe than expected but not too severe. Put in effort to the class more than minimal and you will receive good marks.

A very subjective style, in pretty much everything: course material, communication, grading, etc. Your enjoyment of a Gareth class depends entirely on how much you like Gareth. He comes across as really harsh in his email correspondence for some reason, which is the opposite of his in-person impression.

front loaded class...last month and a bit are very slack and the content of the class is much more enjoyable. first half is history the second half applies to now-a-days. midterm is the only test otherwise it's just 3 little reports and a term paper. a lot less work than most classes.
