Comment:
Although I thought HISP 305 "Advanced Grammar, Composition, and Conversation" would be a useful but boring class, it was very fun while still helping me learn a lot. Prof. Greenia is very upbeat, personable, engaging, and a good teacher. He got to know us and by having us work in groups we got to know each other. The class wasn't even very hard.

Rio is a great professor. He really loves the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. He's hilarious and sarcastic, so he easily keeps everyone's attention. He usually sympathizes with everyone and knows that we all have lives outside of class, although he still sometimes seems to think our lives revolve around his class at times.

He's very good at in-class instruction and good about offering feedback on compositions, which make up a good chunk of the grade. He, however, is at first unclear about his expectations, and the two tests were kind of a surprise in regards to content.

He is a great guy and very nice but extremely confusing. He never explains what he wants form the assignments or what is going to be on tests. The expectations for the class were very unclear and he went off the syllabus half the time. He is a nice guy but I dislike his teaching style.

Greenia is a great professor. Very nice, helpful, and enthusiastic about teaching Spanish. A class on grammar could be a lot worse! Most of the grade is made up of 4 compositions with rough drafts beforehand. Mid-term and final are both on grammar, which can be difficult (my only gripe), but he gives lots of practice exercises. do the extra credit

Awesome professor! He's so enthusiastic about the subject, that even though the majority of the class consisted of reviewing grammar, the time flew! He assigns a lot of work in the book, but doesn't collect it often; most of your grade is based on the midterm/final and 4 essays, for which he lets you submit rough drafts. Highly recommend!

He's really enthusiastic about what he teaches and seems willing to help if you ask. However, he assigns a ridiculous amount of work, and usually gives very unclear directions with each assignment. He also will take the entire semester to return your work, so by the time you get it back, you've turned in three or 4 more with the same mistakes.

This class was disappointing. I didn't feel like we ever did anything pertinent. We never received feedback on ANY assignments besides our midterm exam. We had no idea how we were doing in the class. Our rough draft of our portfolio was due at the beginning of April. The professor did not give us any feedback by the time we had to turn in the final

He is one of the nicest and most helpful teachers at W&M. If you're having trouble, go talk to him about it. He will let you have extensions and will help you get a better grade if you put in the effort. Makes lots of Spanish/English puns. One of my favorite professors ever.

George Greenia is incredible. He is by far my favorite professor at WM because of his enthusiasm for the class. Grammar is really so important in learning a language and Greenia makes it entertaining. He does expect a lot though, so only take if you're at a pretty high level of speaking. Lots of work in the textbooks, but TOTALLY WORTH IT!!

Yeah, the book isn't very good, but the class is easy and you learn a whole lot. Greenia is always in his office and is the most helpful, nicest guy ever if you go and talk to him. HS305 is a great class and Greenia is perfect for it. He's enthusiastic to the point of insanity but he's really hard to not like. Take his class.

Good guy in general, engaging and informed. You can't do well if you sit there quietly. Offer your views and opinions, speak up and you'll do fine.

I absolutely hated this class. I came into W&M hoping to learn something new in a 300-level course. Instead, we only reviewed homework and did practically nothing. I literally had to force myself to come to class everyday. Greenia is a great (and funny) professor, but this class is so boring.

Greenia is one of the most engaging professors at WM. He is very interested in the subject, and that interest is passed on to students. He is also very helpful during office hours. Unfortunately, he sometimes overestimates his students' previous knowledge on some subjects.

Not only are class exercises and homework assignments pointless, but he also provides absolutely no guidance as to what to study for exams. He gives higher grades to students he likes than those he doesn't. I learned nothing about Spanish from this class.

Last rating was too harsh--he did give hard assignments, but in the end seemed generous with final grades (individual papers/quizzes he was not so generous). Class was usually entertaining, but did expect you to know unrealistic amounts of minute details of grammar all at once.

This is the worst class I have taaken at wILLIAM & MARY. I hated going to the class everyday. No matter how much work you put in to it he will always bring your grade down. Most people in my class said that this was the last hispanic studies class they would take. Avoid unless you want an ulcer.

Class is in Spanish, but he is not difficult to understand. Grades are not easy, but usually decent. He has a lot of enthusiam for what he is teaching. There is a lot of work, though, if you were expercting an easy freshman class.
