Easily one of the best lecturers at W&M. Take his ethics course and I guarantee you will become a better thinker, although a good deal of memorization is required. Great conversations outside of class, very approachable.

Professor is a nice guy, and genuinely tries his best in class. However, he's a hard grader, more because he actually reads what you write, doesn't just skim for keywords. Grade based on midterm and final. Going to class is probably more important than reading because he points out non-trivial things that are on the test.

The words mind-numbingly boring come to mind. He had his high points during the semester and did at least make some thought-provoking points. I'd echo the previous comment and say that you shouldn't take this grade in the hopes of getting a GPA boost. Your grade is based on the midterm and final only, each consisting of six essay questions. Tough!

An okay professor. Can be very thought-provoking, but can also be mind-numbingly repetitive and pound certain points absolutely to death. Also needs to learn that philosophy classes are not government classes, and thus shouldn't be testing us on Constitutional law. Still, decent way to get GER 7.

Incredibly nice and intelligent guy. He reaaaally believes that grade inflation is the root of all evil, so you probably won't get an A. If you like philosophy, you will learn a ton... if you are taking his class for a gpa boost, get out while you still can.

Enjoyed his class...learned after bombing the midterm that all you gotta do is repeat what he verbatim on the the tests. Don't listen to the haters, he's available outside of class and will challenge your method of thinking. Does lecture, but not boring, very thought provoking and loves to answer questions.

Harris has the uncanny ability to challenge even the most obstinately held beliefs. He's pretty certain he knows everything and is sure to let you know it. Take it pass/fail if you're not a slave to GER 7.

Harris is a nice man. Class is very easy for a GER 7. Just a midterm and final. Wants you to learn important arguments, take away a lot from the class on key issues. Usually talks too much, can be terribly dry. Should lecture less and encourage more debate; most topics relevant/interesting.

Great! Took the first class because it was required. The second because he was such an excellent prof. Workload (reading only) is light but he expects you to know everything you read. Great lecturer.

Very funny during lectures, and he really knows how to setup a debate properly. Don't expect an A though, unless he really likes your stuff you'll end up with a B or B-.
