A lot of people don't jive with the way the Pesely runs his class, but as long as you fill out the study guides he gives and STUDY THEM (I tend to fill them out during class so I don't miss anything), go to class and pay attention, and stay ahead on your work, you'll be fine. His tests are easy if you study. Do the book reports ahead of time.

Powerpoints and lectures are very dry. Gives study guide that can be hard to follow but important for tests. 2 book reports from list of books he gives. He can be funny, is very understanding. Allowed me to reschedule exam. Takes roll every class and was lenient on dates due on papers. Grades fair, exams 30 questions plus pick prompt essay.

Dr. Pesely is a nice person, but as professor, much was left to be desired. Each class is straight reading from the powerpoint, except for when he went off on a tangent, but Dr. Pesely was utterly and completely inaudible the entire time. Sit at the front. It's difficult to get him to answer questions clearly. His handwriting is also hard to read.

Best class ever because of one instance. Had him a few years ago. A student legit asks if the ancient Romans dressed like the Italian mobsters in movies. Instead of calling him an idiot, Pesely goes into a lecture about chromosomal DNA, genetics, and Otzi the Iceman. I laughed so hard I had to leave class. TAKE HIM!!!!!

Dr. Pesely is an extremely intelligent professor. Ask him a question and he will always have an answer. He was one of my favorites. I took both Ancient Greece and fall of the Roman Empire. He lectures heavy, but I found it interesting. Only one paper and three tests. Very fair with grading.

Great professor, extremely knowledgeable. only complaint I have is that his study guides are 200+ questions and his exams are only 35-40 questions with one essay question. 40+ powerpoints all on D2L are very helpful for the study guide, but an equal amount of needed information comes from the book as well. Lenient due dates and curved test grades.

He creates PowerPoints based on the information from the book, and most answers to the study guide questions can be found in the PPTs. The smartest thing you can do is fill out the study guides during lecture! If you are going to be lazy, then do not take him, you will not pass the class. The book he uses is $20, and I used it twice.

He lectures from the time class starts till the very end. Unless you sit up front hes impossible to hear as he mumbles and is quiet so unless you do the study guides read the book and go over PowerPoints on your own time you will not do well on his tests.

You basically have to teach yourself in this class, he does powerpoints but they dont help you with exams. He gives study guides, real easy and they come straight from the book, he pulls his exam questions from the study guide, so you have and easy A. Also if grades are low he curves his test.

Dr. Pesely is a super nice guy. He is crazy knowledgable. You can tell from his lectures that this guy is a genius. He seems to know everything, and not in a bad way. He is lenient in his grading (2 tests, final, research paper), and wants to see students do good. One warning though: this class is VERY boring. Drink coffee and sit in front to hear.

Overall he gives study guides that are a couple of pages long, be sure to read the book. Don't worry about the powerpoints he gives, they have nothing to do with his test. He does ask for 2 book reports which are more like book reviews, he doesn't grade them harshly. Plus he gives you a list of books to choose from.

This professor is decent at teaching, it's just very hard to stay focused in his class. He seems excited about what he's teaching, but just can't hold my interest. A lot of people sleep in that class. However, he keeps all of the power points online so you can look back at them and study them before the exams. You also have to do book reports.

He doesn't speak up at all. When I do hear him, he mumbles and talks so fast that I can't understand him. For the most part he reads the powerpoints, so I never felt like class was essential, but he does take attendance. Because of his lack of speaking up, his tests are hard.

He does nothing but lecture!!!! He talks a thousand miles an hour and goes from talking about on thing to another with no clear transitions. He has two book reports that you have to do, 3 exams and random pop quizzes. His study guide he gives out has the questions to his exams however the answers aren't in his notes, lectures, or the book!

One of the tags I chose was gives extra credit-what I specifically mean is he curves the tests. There are only three tests and the option of a research paper or two short book reports. Tests are not cumulative, and they're 35 multiple choice then you pick a topic to write about from a list of 4 or 5. Just read 2 pages a day and ace the tests. Nice

He talks incredibly fast and mumbles a lot. I'm sure he is highly intelligent... if we could only figure out what he's saying. And his study guides are a waste of paper. On the bright side, he grades on a curve, all his powerpoints are on D2L, no midterm, and the final isn't cumulative. You do have to write either a paper or 2 book reports though.

Great teacher, very learned in his field. Great to listen too as well, he has a story that relates to just about every lesson. If you don't like to read heis not for you, but you can pass if you listen, just don't expect an A if you do.

He is great, and is so interested in the subjects he teaches. I learn so much about all aspects of history just by showing up to class. If you really want to get the whole picture of the times take his class. you will hear lots of lecture a few tests (long study guide but makes you really read the book) and one paper or two book reviews. Very Nice!

Dr. Pesely is a true genius of the ages. If you don't like listening, I guess you wont enjoy the class. College is for learning, and you definitely WILL learn from this man. He's funny and talks fast, but he will answer whatever question you may have, and it is 100% clear what he wants for the tests. He is also an easier grader than we deserve. A+

He knows his knowledge. He speaks his words. Those who don't like him Are for the birds. Pesely knows the three books in Graceland and he knows lots about Greece. It is his story not yours or mine. Along with Jeeves Plover, one of the best.
