Gordon is a good guy. I emailed him about having to miss an exam and he was more than happy to help me arrange a time to take it. If you show him that you care about your grade, he will be very helpful. The class itself wasn't bad. He grades tough, but gives you a study guide for exams which is great. Take good notes, study, and you'll do just fine

Gordon really wants you to succeed if you show you care about the class. He is always willing to meet outside of class, & that is beyond helpful. He is SO knowledgeable, & his lectures are good, but write everything he says (because his powerpoints have minimal notes to refer back to.) His tests are short answer, so know everything WELL. Good guy.

Had him for lab, granted it was one of the first times its been taught with the new major but he was still pretty unorganized. Never gave us feedback for our paper we had to write over the semester even though we were supposed to revise every section based on it. He's funny and in lab its pretty easy and straight forward.

With all his quirks and ticks, OG David Gordon Brown is a real man of the biological hemisphere. OG does explain things well, however when it comes time for tests, be prepared and be sure to shower after because you'll be sweating through your clothes with fear. They are very hard but remember that you will be okay in the end. Cheers Troll King

Dr. G genuinely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. His lectures do get a bit confusing sometimes but he frequently stops to ask for any questions. If you do have questions he goes out of his way to explain the topic in simpler terms. Little to no homework but tests are decently difficult. I would definitely take his class again.

he is really nice and helpful if you go into his office. His tests are extremely hard you have to know everything inside and out to do well. I really liked him as a prof but his test were just to hard

Do NOT take this class. Brown's tests are extremely hard and have nothing to do with what is taught in class. He is a really nice guy but his class is just too hard.

Gordy is a great professor. He is great at teaching during the lecture, and doesn't allow you fall asleep in during it. Unfortunately, his tests are VERY hard. He does allow you to make your own glossary to use on the test, and he allows corrections after, but the tests are not easy. He is always willing to help if you are willing to ask.

Gordy is a good guy at heart, and he tries his best to make class interesting. That being said, I didn't learn much from his discussion-style teaching strategy. He was EXTREMELY disorganized and never got things to us when he said he would, including grades. He may be a great prof for other courses, but I wouldn't recommend him for ecology.

Knowledgeable, and it shows... VERY difficult exams. Humorous, but sometimes dry (can't make liver function very entertaining). He is understanding as long as you show that you're working to get through. If you have excellent study habits, you stand a chance of a low B. Had him as lab prof too, and he's understandable in that respect.

Gordon is not my favorite teacher, his tests are incredible hard and they don't reflect much of what he lectures about. He can be very rude and inappropriate. All together my experience in his class sucked- I didn't like him at all.

This is an incredibly hard class because of the instructor. The class average is never above a D, doesnt that say something to him. No matter how hard i would study, I still found it impossible to do well. I ended up dropping the class

Gordy is the man! He is very passionate about biology and his lectures will keep you interested for the entire 70 minutes. His tests are very long and pretty difficult but if you study long and hard you will do fine. You will learn more biology in his class than with any other prof.

He really wants to be helpful and his heart is in the right place he is just impossibly hard and the tests are ridiculously long. It's a lot of reading. He attempts to teach you and does an excellent job but his exams usually do not reflect what he says in class.

Do not listen to anything said by the negative people below or above this. If you are in one of Gordon's classes you will learn more than you ever have about biology. If you truly want to do something in the Biology field then the information learned in Gordon's class will be much more useful than an easy "A" in another class.

Gordie is the best prof I had during my time at SJU. His approach to presenting the material is excellent and his learning goals clear. Upper level classes are discussion based with emphasis on textbook and article material. He expects a lot from his students, and his written tests are difficult, but manageable. Quirky, but great sense of humor.

The Worst Prof at CSBSJU. He is evil and should not be allowed to teach. Avoid his class. He goes by Gordon and another name that starts with a B. But avoid Brown he sucks. Not a good teacher. SHould be fired.

DO NOT TAKE. You will learn a lot and still get a d. Our class average was an F. I was in the top 4% and got a B. Completely unrealistic expectations. Most frusterating experience ever. Highly advise you to do everything in your power to avoid him. Completely rediculous.
