I had Bob for organic I, II and spectroscopy. I had to drop the first prof I had because he was impossible to follow. I went from an F in my first attempt in another profs class to an A in Bob's. He is a riot and I still impersonate his accent. Those who don't like him probably should drop science b/c they don't have the right stuff anyway.

I love Bob! He is a great teacher and he is really passionate about his subject. Organic is a hard class so you need to study a lot no matter which professor you have. He likes to put problems on the board and you work them in groups after he teaches the concept. He's a funny guy and really nice when you get to know him. :)

I had Hargrove for a MoM-Costa Rica trip. He made **** and **** comments throught the course, and he was very critical of us the entire time. We never really had time to study for the final while we were there, and we had to take it one the plane ride home. Try not to take him, unless you really like kissing up.

He is not very helpful and has a bad attitude when it comes to helping students out. Be prepared to teach yourself everything for the most part.

I was expecting him to be impossible, but the class was a lot more manageable than I expected. The tests really aren't any harder than any other teachers', just make sure you do all the assigned problems in the book and study hard. He's really picky when grading lab notebooks-especially spelling, so you have to be careful. Pay attention in class!

He is the hardest organic professor. You have to teach yourself the material. The tests are hard but not impossible but he doesn't give much partial credit. If you don't want to work your butt off then do everything you can not to take this man!

Keep up with the class and the book work. His test are hard. You can go to him to ask questions if you are brave enough but he gives you a roundabout answer. My notes made no since b/c he has the students go up and do problems on the board. He also grades labs very strictly.

He's tough, real tough. You are going to study your butt off and will probably fail the first test. But stick with it and you will learn a whole lot about organic chemistry.

Um, yeah. Dr. Hargrove is sort of cold is not terribly friendly, but he'll make you work and think at the same time. I didn't love his class while I was in it, but I was super glad that I had him during my first semester @ Mercer to get me ready for real college work. Take him for a challenge!

He can be an ass at times, but a lot of times he does so on purpose to motivate. Outside of class he is a completely different person. Overall, he is very straightforward and predictable. The exams are straight from the book.

Dr. Hargrove is perhaps the most challenging, demanding, and strict professor here at Mercer, hands down. If you do not read every night and really know what you are doing, you will not do well in the class. Organic is challenging enuff as is, so only take him if u KNOW chemistry inside and out.

Dr. Hargrove is very straight forward. He tells you upfront exactly what will be on the test. He does come off as an ass, but if you show that you care about your progress, so will he. As my advisor, he was encouraging and wrote excellent recommendations for me.

The worst teacher! You would pretty much need your nose so far up his ass in order to get an A in his class. Definitely not an open-minded person nor open to creative ideas. He should just stick to teaching chemistry instead of an english class.

Going into Organic, any student should know that the class will be hard. Hargrove gets things done. Know how to do every practice problem and you will be fine in the class and Hargrove will make sure that you know your stuff too.

I liked Hargrove, his style was similar to my Gen Chem professor. You learn a lot by working problems, inside class and out. If you pay attention, and ask questions, you'll do fine.

Favorite professor at mercer. He is strict and tough which many people find harsh but he cuts through the crap that many teachers don't. He is not cuddly but that is not his job/intent. Clever Professor and brilliant person if you get to know him.
