There is an assignment almost every week, I follow all the directions and he still grades quite hard as if I am supposed to know everything about political science. It's definitely a passable class, but he's just a really hard grader.

Glad I took him to tell you the following: avoid him like the bubonic plague. To be fair, he loves his subject but fails to understand... that not EVERYONE loves political science. That being said, prepare to read, write, and spend eons contemplating why you took this class.

Took this class this semester and would say that assignments were never truly correlated with the textbook online. Gives 2 hours on an exams to write 2 long essay questions, 3 short essays and multiple choice. Also is really rude with comments when he grades and does not get back to students for over a period of time.

Dr. Brent's class is really difficult, but it's worth it! Don't be afraid of the challenge because his class is incredibly rewarding if you put in the effort and participate.

Brent is a fantastic professor who demands a lot from his students. Students develop an understanding of legal theory in his courses, which is difficult in the undergraduate environment. If you study, read, and ask for help you will succeed.

He is singlehandly the WORST professor I have taken my entire life. Im starting to think that the good reviews are posted by him. Hes unreasonable. Unreachable. And if you can, AVOID this class.

James Brent is a wonderful professor. It helps going to his office hours since he will get to know you more. He is very enthusiastic when he gives his lectures. The stories he shares are interesting and relevant to his class. The assignments are very doable and reasonable.

This is not a cteacher for procrastination. Gives ridiculously hard tests and a huge 8 page essay at the end of the semester. Do not take this teacher if you do not have to. Otherwise good luck.

So many assignments;some questions on midterm never discussed in class;tough grader on exams, expecting you to answer the question very detailed;each assigned to pick a different President to study during the semester, but the process of picking a President is unfair; never mention his rules for each assignments in class;must ask Q's in class.

I took this class online. There are a few lectures to listen to (probably takes about an hour, but I would spread it out through a couple of days) and a weekly or bi-weekly assignment depending on how large the assignment is. There is one major paper, one midterm, and one final. Overall, fairly easy class and James Brent is easy to contact.

I recommend James brent and iris jerke, here is the key to pass James brents portion of class. Attend EVERY class session, use your iphone and RECORD the lecture as an audio podcast. The midterms and final barely cover crap in the book, its all about his LECTURES and slides that he presents. His questions and answers on tests are 99% through lectur

Simply amazing. If you're interested in law, the Constitution, or the judiciary, Brent is the best. Long papers and if you miss lecture you'll suffer big time, but tests are simple if you take notes and study. Ignore what other people badmouth him for, many of them don't pay attention, never come to class, or aren't interested in the material
