Comment:
The professor makes ridiculous exam questions and puts some of the most obscure questions you can imagine on exams. He looks for textbook answers to his questions and if not he will take off points. He does not curve even though the first exam average was a 52! He is the definition of a research professor that should not be making the exams.

Please do not take this class. Dr Berry will tell you one thing and then put something completely different on the exam. He says he does not curve, and Ill honestly be surprised if anyone is able to get an A in this class. And dont listen to the last review. The class is 2 credits and requires as much work, if not more, than a 3 credit class.

Tbh he was a pretty good professor. The. Lass is hard so dont expect to do well if you dont put the work in. It's a 3 credit course and should be treated like one...

No textbook and he writes on the board as notes so no presentations. Going to class is a must for the lab material, so the lab handouts by itself are useless to study for his exams. 50% of calculations are on the exam that he never talks about, so it's hard to know what to expect for that. Horrible class overall, please don't take this course

In his email, he is very rude and disrespectful. He is very disorganized and a harsh grader. He expected you to know everything for the exam. The exam is easy but if you don't have the answer he is looking for, you won't do well.

Dr Berry expects a lot from his students. He expects you to be present and attentive in class.. if you are the course is not very difficult and if you aren't then you will struggle. He is very strict with grading. If the answer given is not exactly what is on his answer key he will take off points. If you submit for regrade, he takes offense to it.

Takes a lot of points off if you don't go to recitation or lab (understandably so). repeats things through out the lecture. For genetics lab there were 3 exams, (not cumulative), 3 lab reports, a lab practical (easy) and TA points. The class was very fair, he lectures well and give fair exams. if you study, pay attention, notes, its a good class.

Worst professor I've ever had at UB. Honestly a mean person, loves to belittle you and offers no help to his students. Extremely rude in emails and acts as if he wants you to fail his class. His first year of doing this lab, and hopefully his last.

I wasn't very interested in this area of biology prior to taking the class but found interesting. He doesn't use powerpoint and there are times having visuals would help but overall his lectures are easy to follow. The guy knows the material well and will stop if you have questions during the lecture. Not a bad guy or course.

Dr Berry was a great professor! I truly enjoyed his class. He is so interested in what he does that it makes you interested too, which makes sitting though class fly by! He doesn't use powerpoint..but don't be scared by that. His writing on the board is more than enough!

He doesn't use powerpoints, so you have to go to class to get the notes. Not a bad guy at all. He does a decent job presenting the material and he tests mainly right off the notes. At times the class can be interesting

Dr. Berry is a pretty decent professor. He is very knowledgeable and does a decent job teaching the material. The test questions are straight from the notes. You have to come to class to get the notes. Overall, he is one of the better professors in the biology department.

Dr. Berry is a knowledgable professor, gives fair tests, and gives decent lectures. You have to attend class to get the notes, but the test questions are fairly striaghtfoward and come directly from his notes. Don't bother buying the book, its used as a reference only. Overall Dr. Berry is a good professor who knows the subject he teaches very well

He is great! He isn't the best teacher ever, but at the same time, he doesn't expect you to know everything. and he's hilarious in class, not in a comedy funny way, but in a can't help but laugh at some of the things he does and says way. He is just such a character. also in terms of teaching, as long as you pay attention in class you will do fine.

Extremely unclear confusing and unfocused. He is very nit-picky and he almost never emphasizes the facts he is nit-picky about. I could never figure out what exactly he wanted us to know or what he thought was important. Most of the the exam was just knowing everything about everything.

Not a terrible teacher, but a bit difficult to understand. Pay attention to detail in his classes and not to the fact that his stomach rubs against the chalk board and erases half of what he is writing. A nice guy but sometimes a bit difficult to approach. He mumbles a lot too so sit in the front

Interested in random tidbits not highlighted in class. Seemed to enjoy spinning off on tangents that had no bearing on the course material, thus not leaving enough time to highlight what was important, at least that's what the exams felt like.
