She was a nice person but as a teacher? No, only if you like accounting and understand math. If you dont understand math or accounting, DO NOT TAKE HER!! She goes extremely fast on the notes and examples and youll end up confused. She does do group quizzes but your test and homework grades are worth more. Such a confusing class

She will really teach the material by stepping through numerous exercises on various problems sets in class, homework, and quizzes. You will have done many variations of complex problems that will really help when you take the exams. I highly recommend her. In my opinion, she is really in the top tier of professors and highly respected.

Comment:

She is one of those teachers that works your butt off, but you appreciate it afterwards. This is the hardest class in the degree. Much of the class was practicing problems and going over them in class. I believe this is the only way absorb the material effectively. She kind of lack in personable traits, but she is overall a good teacher.

Greatest professor I have ever had. Very caring and wants you to succeed not only in class but outside of class as well. Her lectures are great and her quizzes and tests are not difficult at all. Pay attention in class and do the homework and you will have no issues.

Study & Practice. Very good lecturer, explains everthing but ASK QUESTIONS if you're unsure. Group quizes and 4 exams: not cummulative. HW online and participate. If you pay attention and do the hw/practice it shouldnt be a hard class.

Not a good teacher. The syllabus changed all the time. She talked about herself during class time, and was easily distracted by other students. Poor choice in textbook. Phillips picked favorite students and cast everyone else to the side. If you were not working or interning, then be prepare to not be acknowledged. Your opinions will not matter.

Challenging class! 2 exams, 2 case studies, and several group quizzes. The case studies are very miserable to do, but once you finish them, you really feel like you've learned something. Exams are 15 multiple choice questions and two problems, group quizzes are all multiple choice. Fair grader, an A is reachable with hard hard work!

Professor Phillips is an educator like no other. She is highly knowledgeable in the field of accounting and has expertise in the field. She brings enthusiasm and interest into each class. Her teaching style is straight forward and concise. Work hard in her course and she will reward you. She motivated me and is the reason I am an accounting major

She's a great professor.She has a good teaching style and using a lot of different elements to teach.You can tell she loves accounting and that's a good thing when you're an accounting major :) Go to class,do all the homework,practice and you will succeed.This class is not easy its the "weed out course" but it's doable if you put in effort.

Dr. Phillips is extremely helpful and definitely has a great method of teaching. She gave out online homework assignments, showed powerpoints, and went through exercises with the class. Show up and do the homework and you'll get a good grade.

One of the best professors at SCSU! I wish I took every accounting class with her because she makes everything really clear and almost enjoyable! I love how enthusiastic she is about accounting.

Comment:

Nice lady, but not very helpful when asking questions about the tax return homework. She teaches the class how to do the problems one way and when we take the exam and you try to apply the way it was taught she marks the answer wrong. Somewhat vague exams and not the fairest grader. You feel cheated out of the grade that you worked hard for.

Difficult course, so pay attention and ask questions if you are confused. Quizzes and exams are based off of homework, so make sure you do all of it. Your best bet is to take Accounting 310 right after Accounting 200 since it is basically Accounting 200 on steroids.

Best accounting professor I've had by FAR! Pay attention.. this is a difficult class. Dr. Phillips cares about her students and tries to make you learn but keeps in mind that it's hard. Go to class and pay attention and you will do well.

Tough class. Definitely the best professor to take it with. Phillips is really nice and tries her best to make the class easier. Study for quizzes and tests by redoing the homework and you will be fine.

Such a sweet lady. Gives 10 quizzes, 4 exams which she thoroughly explains what will be on the exams and drops the lowest 2 quiz grades. Every business major should take her for accounting 200. I love her!

She is crystal clear with all of her teachings and makes sure that the class understands all of the material that she is teaching. In addition, you will never catch her in bad mood because she is such a friendly person and like I said before she is the bomb baby bomb baby.
