He's available either through email or the online discussion boards. He's very helpful and provides PowerPoint presentations. The assignments aren't too bad as long as you read the text. My only complaint is that I wish our due dates were Sundays as I work full-time and usually only have time to work on school during the weekends.

Great teacher. Programming can be a difficult concept to grasp when you first learn it but he helped me through it, he's always willing to give extra help and if you use the book and truly get a grasp on programming, this class is a breeze.

Gets off track sometimes, but really knows his stuff, he wants the class to get involved in lecture and ask questions, my class was not willing to do this but any extra I ever needed he was willing to help me with in his office

Sometimes takes a while to respond to e-mail. Seems to be a great guy. Most likely a great teacher in the classroom, not online. Quizzes are somewhat difficult...expect the unexpected.

Great person. His teaching can get a little unclear at times. He gets confused about what class he is teaching sometimes but its a fun class. Java is a fun language and one of the leading languages used today so it really is a class you can use once you graduate. I learned a lot.

Vandergriff, as a person, is a pretty good guy. As a teacher, he is not very clear on things in the classroom. The assignments were easy at first, but got progressively harder as the semester went by. This was partly due to me not reading the chapters, but they were really long. I was very interested in the class and in Java Programming.
