Jo Ellen is amazing. She cares very much for her students personal success. She will give up her personal time to help a student. She's incredibly educated in her field, and one of the best people to be with if your interested in performing. I love her and would suggest taking all of her clases if you're interested in music!

I absolutely adore Jo Ellen! I've taken Fund. Musicianship, Chorale, Cardina Singers, and voice lessons with her. She's also my advisor. She means buisness, and she's very passionate. She is very giving and will help in any way she can. She doesn't take kindly to those who aren't serious. But if you make an effort she'll be sure to reward you.

Great professor! She really knows this stuff and will teach the material from different angles. Yes, you have to do ALOT of work (Practica Musica, Solfege sessions, homework, and tests). Do the work, study for tests, pay attention and also have a love of music and you wont find it difficult

Ms. Miano is a great teacher. She's definitely a stickler and a little old-fashioned but in a good way. She keeps you on top of your studies and makes sure you don't just learn, but MASTER the material. She's super-friendly and will work with you if you work with her. Everything you want in a teacher. Not an EASY A, but you will get one if you work

If you have any interest in music, at the very least take Fund. Musicianship. She is extremely knowledgable and if you're willing to work hard you will learn a TON because although she's a little demanding, she explains everything until it's crystal clear and will help you succeed no matter what, as long as YOU want to. Also, a fun class.

Jo Ellen is really nice and energetic. I like some of the songs we sing, but we also sing really weird songs that none of us like. She is really good at describing what she wants of us and the class is an easy fun A.

Jo-Ellen Miano is interesting, when teaching a choir, she will have everyone sing soprano, alto, or bass...it sucks cause, i don't know about you, but i really don't want to learn another part..i have trouble enough learning my own part..ugg that sucks!! she may like you one minute, and hate you the next..and then love you again. very interesting!

this class was a bit irritating because half the time she is joking, teaching in a sort of show-manship way, seemingly geared torward very young students, and then she snaps after a while, the show is over, dammit, listen!yet, the product of a nice blend of voices is perhaps worthwhile...

Shes an awsome person, she has a different way in teaching. like in the choirs if she might have the sopranos or altos sing bass or tenor, i'm not sure why, i hate it when she does that, but thats her style. if you don't like this then don't take choir, but she is an awsome person, and i recommend taking a class with her, she is helpful when asked!

She is a great teacher. She will give you whatever help you need. You will have to work hard, but you'll really appreciate all she amkes you do once you're done. Try to take a class with her even if you're not a Music Major.
