Mr. Hansen did the impossible- he made me enjoy Latin. I loved Mr. Hansen's class, he is so funny, and he runs a very structured course- I never encountered anything on a test that he didn't warn about. More than this, I would honestly say Mr. Hansen is the only teacher at OU I would call a friend, he's just that awesome!

John Hansen is one of the best professors I have ever had. I have taken 4 semesters of Latin with him. He has made a hard subject as easy and as enjoyable as possible. You don't have to show up to class but it helps your grade so much. He wants you to succeed and will work with you so you can.

A real joy to have as a professor. I found the material easy enough as long as you paid attention in class, which isn't too hard when the teacher is this great. The tests (in his poetry class) rely less on skill and more on memorization, but if you can figure out which sections are important are still very straightforward.

Makes it effortless to learn latin. You must attend class, but theres no limit to the amount of classes you can miss. I missed 7 classes total and still passed with an A, just be sure to stay ahead of the lectures if you plan on being absent. The best professor I have had in a long time!

Not only is Mr. Hansen one of the most impactful teachers I have ever had, he is genuinely one of the kindest people I have ever met. He is caring, fair, and will always explicitly let you know what he is going to test you on. Languages can be hard, but Hansen really deconstructs the material to make it accessible. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Hansen has to be one of the top 3 best professors I've ever taken at OU. Not only is he down to earth with his students, but he also takes the time to make Latin a bit more enjoyable, by talking about various history/showing us pics when he went to Rome/Latin you can use quotes/poems. He's an absolute gem, I highly recommend him.

I'm not religious, but this man is an actual SAINT. If you like candy for writing on the board, stickers for natural A's on tests, learning SO much more than Latin, and a difficult but totally doable challenge, then this is the guy for you. Seriously, Professor Hansen is the BEST of the BEST. TAKE HIS CLASS!!! He'll teach you SO much, and it's fun!

There's homework every night, but it's not too bad and really helps your understanding of the Latin. Mr. Hansen is very helpful and is just a fun professor overall. I would definitely take a class with him again.

Dr. Hansen is awesome, I had taken 3 semesters of Italian prior to Latin and hated it because of the professors and was concerned about this being the same. I was wrong! He is an awesome professor and extremely knowledgeable.

Professor Hansen has made Latin so much fun. Having never taken a foreign language I expected it to be grueling and awful, but it was surprisingly great. There's a quiz/test once a week, but hes very clear about what is on them. Take him, you won't regret it, he is great!

You want to get a great introduction and suprising proficiency in Latin. Take Mr. Hansen. He's funny, know the material inside and out, is willing to help, understands the pitfalls and setbacks that students go through, and wants you to do well! I learned more than just Latin in the class too, but a ton of cool cultural stuff too. A+ professor.

Mr. Hansen is the epitome of a professor who understands and listens to his students. Not only did he weight the homework the same as tests to reward students who worked hard all semester, he also allowed students to forgo the final if they had an A in the class. Very knowledgable and passionate professor! Always willing to help!

I had him for Latin Prose and Latin 2. I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about him. Latin was interesting, but foreign languages have never been my thing. Mr. Hansen made the entire thing bearable and is probably one of the nicest professors at this University.
