I had trouble in the class, so i always went up to her for help after class and she gave you nothing but a annoyed look that youre actually asking her for help cause its not like youre going to understand it anyways. I talked to other students in the class and they all said that she makes you feel like youre the bottom of the barrel

Grammar is very important in her class. Be prepared, she always calls on random names. If you hand in essay on time you can resubmit it and raise mark up to 10% She can be intimidating, and can make you feel bad if you answer wrong.

She can be a hard ass, she expects her students to work hard. I was nervous when I went to see her for some help with an essay, but was extremely impressed with her help!! By the end of the course I really found I liked her! The chance the increase your mark by 10% after she has read it and given you feedback is great too!! Do not be intimidated!

Honestly how can people even say she was a good prof, she told me i write like a grade two child, when i got 89% as a final mark in english 30-1 she told me that didnt mean anything... she seriously killed the way i thought about english and its been 2 years since ive been in her class and im stil scared 2 take another english class

One great thing about this instructor is that she allowed us to revise all of our essays and get up to 10% more than the first time she marked them. She would tell you pretty much exactly what to change/revise and you could easily get a better mark.

At first, I thought she was going to be amazing since she was the co english chair. After the first couple of weeks I thought I could stand her. I was wrong. She will help you if you go see her, but I found her help and I left her class more confused about the english language than before I went in. She seems bored with teaching.

Two words to describe her are god and aweful. She is not very friendly and is an extremely hard marker. She doesnt make the subject matter interesting. My advice is to avoid her like the plague. It would be funny if she were reading this. Dropping her class was a long overdue breath of fresh air.

I personally don't like her! She has only one way of looking at lit, she does a lot of interupting and she's not very friendly. I think that she forms an opinion of you based on how you look, and if she doesn't like you she'll make an idiot out of you. I may be blonde,I'm not stupid, and I happen to know my english...but with her it's impossible!

she marks so hard. if you give her your interpretation of a poem, she won't give you marks. she thinks she's right. i don't care if your so educated and done the poems so many times. Unless you show me that the writer told you what he/she wanted people to know about the poem, your interpretation to me is useless. I don't agree with anything of hers

When I came to GMCC I was an houner student. She tried to fail me becasue I interpreted some works differntly then her. She was vendictive and cruel. I worked really hard, but she did her best to punish me for not bowing down to her.I finally walked out, transfered to Excelerated ENG 101 and passed with a B+ after coming in 2 weeks behind.

Allen is rude and treats you as if you are in grade 4! She marks solely on grammar, if you wrote a paper demeaning her and calling her rude names, but used correct grammar you would still get a good mark because she doesn't read anything or make comments on your content! I would suggest dropping her class unless you have a fetish for putdowns!
