I took this class online during the summer session. I found this class interesting because it is related to medicine. I am a mathematics major and this class made me to add a minor in Sociology to fulfill my upper lever credits. 5 discussion posts, 4 homeworks, 3 to 4 single spaced research paper and 2 exams.

Very nice and understanding professor but he's a little bit of a mess. his in-class lectures are scattered and nonspecific, and he doesn't write anything down. He assigns a chapter a week but the material is so dense. The exams are hard with no study guide, he says to just memorize everything you can and they're worth a LOT of points! :(

SOCY 300 was a tad bit boring, but prof. Schumacher does try and live things up with his jokes. His exams are pretty tough, but ATTENDING review sessions is VERY helpful. He also give study guides so doing them will help. Its not a hard class but it also isn't easy, just take plenty of notes, do study guides and review sessions and u should b fine

Best teacher for SOCY 300! He was simply awesome. Really tried to make an 8:30am class as fun as possible. He really engages with his students and works with them. He is always asking if things need to be clarified. His HW's, Quizzes and Labs are easy. Pretty much anything that he goes over in class, is on the quiz. Take!!!

Nice and he really tries to engage his students in discussion. He has a lot of HW, labs, and quizzes but pay attention in class and you will get 100% on everything. The exams are a bit harder, but if you read the chapters you will be fine. Easy and fast grader not too particular. Class is fun considering it's research methods (not a fun topic).

I was initially intimidated when at the first class after receiving the syllabus. Stuck with the class because I needed it, glad I did! He's very caring & helpful. Just keep up with the readings and you'll do fine. The research paper is a bit of a drag, but he gives plenty of time & guidance to check it over. Great professor.

Great Professor. Very kind and helpful. Exams are decent. YOu have to study lecture notes, read the textbook, and all the handouts on blackboard. Exam consists of multiple choice and essays. Quizzes are easy. 10 true/false questions based on weekly readings from the textbook. One group presentation at the end of the semester. One 8-10 page essay.

I took SOCY 351, 411 & 431 from Dr. S. because I appreciate his knowledge, style and genuine interest in student learning. He'll make you work for it, but you'll come out learning immense amounts in the end. Multimedia and blackboard use only add to the total positive experiences in his class.

His lectures are a bit boring, but that again depends on whether you like the subject matter. Nice guy, a bit dry at times, but definitely a fair teacher. Lots of work, but I learned a lot and it was a fair class.

Boring, boring, boring, but not difficult. Quizzes every day on the reading are straight foward, assuming you read. Similarly, tests are fair but you will have to study to do well. There are essays involved in the tests, but usually you have to pick one from a couple choices. He's very approachable, helpful, and friendly.

Dr. S. makes an interesting class out of a potentially boring subject. He uses blackboard well, making it easy to keep up if you miss a class. Weekly 10 question quizzes force you to keep up on readings.

Boring class, boring readings, but he goes over them in class so quiz's and exams arent bad. One 8-10pg paper, material is mostely common sense and analytical(bull****ting is a must)he is kind of funny in a dorky sort of way.
