Pretty much a lecture based class, sometimes we do stuff out of the book as a class. I have gotten A's on both of the first two papers.

He does a good job of mixing in Spanish and English in his class so that you can comprehend important things. He grades papers hard, however they're are only about 2, so make them very good. Participate a lot in class and do your readings and you should do okay.

Jose has high expectations for his students, but he is very knowledgeable; If you want to learn spanish, take Fabres. He pushes his students to actually learn and not just get by. He does a lot of participation grading. Just do the readings and homework, and you'll do well.

I actually went to Chile for a semester with him and found him to be a very harsh grader, very unorganized, and not helpful at all. Although I got ABs on all of my papers and went and participated in every class, I got a BC. He gets angry and says it is because he is Chilean, but I met a lot of Chileans and no one treated me like that.

I got by with a B in this class without studying once and without doing a single reading. He has homework once in awhile, but you correct it in class. Honestly, I'd take him for every Spanish class if I could.

He definitely made me feel like I sucked at Spanish. Other people and I agreed he is pretty harsh when it comes to grading. But he's a cute little guy and very funny. I'd take him just to see him wear the little beret he likes to wear.

This is the most difficult class I have ever taken. I never thought I sucked at Spanish until this year-very picky. He mumbles too-he can't do that-he's chilean! I do like that when you participate, it doesn't go unnoticed. He can tell if you are trying. I just wish he would help more with writing.

I had him for two classes. He is a funny guy. Especially when he talks about Americans. His political views are kinda crazy... He is a fair prof. His tests can be hard...studying is a must! I liked him better in 211 than 212.
