Joe is a great professor who cares deeply about his students. If you pay attention and do good work he'll give you a good grade. He's completely fair and a nice guy. He has a great sense of humor and is light-hearted. In addition, his knowledge of African music is unparalleled. Definitely take a class with him if you can.

Incomprehensible when it came to clarity of lessons. Mid term was ambiguous. Tends to favour students and to hold unjustified grudges against others. Needs to be more clear and concise. His dialect resembles that of a habitual stoner. Definitely avoid if at all possible.

Joe is an amazing teacher. His knowledge of African drumming is unlike anyone i have ever met. What I have learnt from him has really opened up a lot of options of my playing and helped me incorporate African rhythms on the drumset. Definitely study with him before you finish at Berklee

I took him for Brazilian Perc for non-percussionist. It wasn't hard at all. Pretty fun class, but I understand what someone mean when they say he seemed stoned all the time. I guess he's trying to be funny.
