Joe was my Mech cal instructor for the last two term(2017 -2018), his tests were kinda okay, make sure you do well on the very first test( which is considered the hardest one) if you are starting bcit Mech first year later. he is aceessible outside of classes, you can either give him an email for appointment or go straight to his office after schoo

Joseph Lo is one of the best math professors I have had at UBC. His lectures were clear, and he used a projector for his notes as well as powerpoint slides for important concepts. Tests were very straightforward for his summer term, although final was quite tough. Nothing fancy and unexpected from his course, and he is VERY helpful.

Best prof at UBC I have ever had. If you don't understand something, he will work with you and find a way to explain things that make sense to you. He definitely made math bearable.

An awesome professor. Lectures were clear and easy to understand. Some questions in the webwork (online homework assignments) were a little confusing but he was easily approachable after class and through email for questions and replied as soon as possible.

Joseph is a great math prof that really cares about his students. His midterms (For summer school midterms are split into 4) are fairly straight forward and some questions can even be found in the textbook!! :)

Slides were great. Not the most difficult subject, just very tedious and long. Helpful and enthusiastic. Not a big fan of the discriminatory/selective scaling he gave to those who bombed MT 2... it boosted the course average too high (high 70's), which really cheapens the A I earned having not had my marks 'scaled' since I didn't bomb MT2.

Joseph is so incredibly nice and helpful! He is extremely patient and never got frustrated at us. His lectures are clear and he stays after class to answer any extra questions. Overall, a great applied math prof, and he's kinda cute in a shy way too!

He's my first math prof who actually uses powerpoint to present his lectures! I also like the fact that he assigns homework on WebWork (online hw that gives you instant feedback). If you work hard, it should be fairly easy to get high marks.

he may not be the best public speaker but he does as much as he can to make sure you understand the material. the midterms were feverish, though, because of the time limits (good thing I learned Calculus back in high school). your mark will be scaled up eventually, so don't worry. He's a good choice.

He's the best prof i have had this year. His lecture is extremely clear, and he tries to make difficult things seem easy. i never skipped his class. it is worth to go.the only thing that i don't like about him is he is probably the only math prof who asks us to do even number questions from the textbook

Great (if not the best) math prof. Notes are very clear. Midterms were a bit too hard. Final exam was the hardest exam I've ever seen. My advice is: read the textbook and do the homework assigned! Joseph is a great guy because he doesn't give in-class quizes and the homework was worth only 5%!

Joseph ROCKS!! Very smart-i think he can solve any math problems! he is very nice, and his notes are extremely clear and organized!! teaches at right pace, and midterms are challenged. But he scales at the end, which is the best!!
