EXCELLENT Teacher! one of my Favorite! Sadly enough this was the first class I have taken with him. Midway through the course he told me he was retiring. So SAD! UAA needs more professors like him! I learned so much from him! Best Teacher Ever! do your assignments by the due date posted and you will get an A. :)

I took Sparkman for both General Psychology and Alaska History. His classes were very straightforward, having assignments due at the end of the semester was less stressful on students. Wish more teachers were like this guy.

Basically do your homework and get an A. Beware, there are no due dates. Everything is due at the end of the semester. The text book is super boring to read and it contains a lot of useless facts. The text book also seems to minimize the experiences that Native Alaskans faced.

Comment:

Loved his online class. It's all about learning Alaska History and saying what you think is interesting. Easy grading as long as you do the work. All classes should be like this, it allows learning to be fun! I recommend this class to anyone needing a history credit, you wont regret it! (just remember to do the work and you will get an A)

Took class online. Was really easy. Just pick 10 key terms, write definition, and answer two of his questions in a paragraph. Basically, summarize it. Example: Explain how the human mind works. Online, we all work on our own pace. No date due. Just make sure everything is turn in by end of semester. No test or quiz. Easy A. Nice guy.

He is an awesome teacher with great stories to tell. We had to write two short papers (1 page total) about a youtube video he had us watch. We had one presentation about any topic that has to do with psycology, our choice. We had two tests (got study guide, no notes) that were fill in the blank but simple questions. Easy and fun class,great teacher

Easy, Easy course. Prof. Sparkman really cares about his students and wants you to do well in his class. I found the course to be very interesting and not boring at all! You get full credit on all assignments for just doing them and the tests are simple. Great if you need upper division credits.

Easy A. Learned loads. Attendance isn't required, but if you go you don't even need to study for exam. Do all assignments ASAP. Makes the rest of your semester easier. He essentially gives you a 100 on everything but the exams just for doing it. Exams are super, super easy if you go to class. Very caring professor. Lots of insight.

This is an interesting class and Mr. Sparkman has many experiences to talk about that relate to the topic and are interesting. The class isn't too difficult. The book isn't really needed, but you should take notes in the class because you can use them on the final. As long as you do the work assigned, you'll do well. I would recommend him.

Awesome teacher. He DOES NOT COPY his powerpoints though. So if you want his notes(which are highly reccomended since you get to use ALL your notes on the final but not the midterm) you need to be to class. He makes his lectures interesting and he is funny.

Really laid back and easy professor, I actually learn better from profs like him. Not only will you learn cool info about Alaska you will probably ace the class if you pay the least amount of attention, he wants his students to pass and his tests are easy. Worth the drive to Chugiak because you will get an A.

Go to class everyday, class is based on a 100 pt scale.. attendance is 1pt per class, take notes on everything he says, he'll tell you to write down stuff that he might put in the test, exam is short (30 questions) however, you must know the content (he'll give you a study guide, test is only from the study guide!)Good luck! Not hard to get an A! But the great thing is that he actually made history interesting ... I even find myself watching the History channel sometimes to learn more...... this would never have happened before taking his class!
