Vollmer is a very inspirational professor who knows how to help a student who is struggling. She's a very tough grader, she expects the best out of everyone. However, if you attend class, participate, and let her know you exist, then you'll pass with flying colors.

The class isn't easy but she makes it fun. The first day of class she walked in looking like a genuine artist, and she is. She knows poetry and can see everything from your point of view, but she'll still push you to be better

Had a poetry class with her and Blevins. Both are great, fun, energetic teachers who enjoy the material and student's insights. Encourages thoughts to be discussed and creates an easy going environment. Would recommend to all. Nice lady too, wish I had her more than once.

JV is a fine teacher and better poet. Her classes are not the rap sessions that Blevins' are, so it makes a nice balance on campus. She doesn't mess around, but you'll enjoy her classes if you have even a modicum of interest in poetry. She's brilliant.

I had Prof. Vollmer for what seemed like most of my classes at Pitt. She's the best. Talented poet, excellent teacher and one of the best poetry group moderators I've ever met. Like I said, THE BEST!

Vollmer is a very nice lady, a great professor, and happens to make her classes very valuable. Don't take her if you're looking for an easy A though, b/c you will work for one of her A's.
