Dont purchase the book she gives you one to print out if you take her online course. Shes amazing! Very kind and passionate about her job! She had so much going on and still took care of her students needs A+ in my opinion.

At the beginning of the semester, she said there was no final and that one of our projects was going to be considered our final. She is quick to change assignments and instructions. it is also hard to know what grade since she takes forever to grade things. Don't get me wrong she is a sweet lady but being in her class was dreadful.

Comment:

Very nice & sweet professor. Not gonna lie, there is alot of work to get done in this class, but it all easy. She does collab sessions, live online chats which are very helpful. She answers very quickly & if she sees you putting the effort in, she will be very fair w/grades. I have so many extra credit points, that my grade is over a 100%.

Very difficult professor. Takes forever to respond to emails. Grading scale is difficult. Assignment are wordy af! She will say one thing and then change it days/weeks later. Difficult to understand class assignment and way too much expectation and assignments in one week. Its only week 7 and I am already on my 4th paper.

Professor Hattaway was a very good professor. I took her hybrid classes for 1301 & 1302 and it was A LOT of work but she understands and will help you along the way! It's easy to fall behind in the classes if you're not proactive and miss but other than that she's really good and knows her stuff. She's really good at replying to emails as well!

I had trouble understanding what she expected on the assignments, it was not just me who had trouble understanding but my classmates as well. She was not clear with what she wanted and makes things so confusing & overall just hard to understand.

She is a very though grader and is not clear on her assignments. Expects you to do so much in a short amount of time. As much as you try to get good grades she always finds something bad and takes off a lot of points on the assignments.

She was the sweetest one yet. She makes learning interesting. Took it for the whole semester this year , and If I could I would take her again. Her grading,and assignments are clear. If you have any questions she is more than willing to help you. Outside of class , and even in class .

Comment:

professor Hattaway is an easy English class to take. She grades easy, especially in the beginning of the term, and gives great feedback on how to improve your writing style and preparation for essay. However, her topics often change quickly and it is easy to get behind if you're not paying attention. 8/10 would take again.

Comment:

Dr. Hattaway is the highest caliber professor I had at SJC. She is really smart and tries to engage you in the material on her level. Some struggled with this, but I really loved how she tried to expand the class' thinking. Assignments are hard and you should read materials more than once to grasp stuff, but you will learn so much in her class.

I took Professor Hattaway for Engl 1302 and she was super nice. I dont like writing essays and dont like to ask questions however, she was always more than happy to help me when I faced difficulties on an assignment. As long as you complete assignments and ask questions you should be fine :)

Professor Hattaway is very caring and willing to help you understand. Her collaborations are helpful and she gives extra credit. I enjoyed her class even though it was ALOT of work, but not necessarily hard, just time consuming. My only complaint would be that she is slow to respond to emails and grades slowly. Overall, I highly recommend her!

Very unclear with assignments. Often forgets conversations-- for example she will tell you the topic you chose is great and then a week later she will tell you the topic won't work. You'll end up rushing to redo a paper because she changed her mind. Very annoying. Also, she's a total conspiracy theorist.

Very caring and kind professor, but is absolutely horrible at teaching. I am no slacker by all means but trying to understand the assignment is going to be majority of the work. She does not explain anything clearly, makes student do confusing activities. For someone with a phd in English she does not know how to teach. Avoid at all cost.

I had trouble understanding what she expected in her assignments the whole semester. She is very slow to respond via email (if she responds at all). A LOT of writing assignments and a lot of reading. She appreciates outside of the box thinking when writing papers so feel free to go far left field. Tough grader.
