Terrible, still the worst class I took at gtown. everyone gets the same grade and Stohr loves to talk non-stop during lectures.

Ok choice for Intro to Ethics. Clear enough but not that interesting. Lectures (not sections) and readings basically optional but you'll probably want to do at least one or the other. TA grading was kinda harsh. Tries to add new authors but still focuses on the big names. 2 papers, 2 takehome tests, section participation make your grade

I am so glad to have taken the Ignatius Seminar "Seeking the Good at Hogwarts" with Prof. Stohr. Her lectures are informative, clear, and thought-provoking, and I frequently left classes talking with her about class discussions. We had a UN conference with HP characters! She welcomes students in for office hours and offers wonderful feedback!

"I know students don't necessarily like to to a lecture for a full hour and fifteen minutes, so I'll only talk for a little bit and then we'll work in groups for the rest of the class." She then proceeds to lecture us for 70 minutes and has us work in groups for 5 minutes.

Stohr is solid, but she has a fascination with bike helmets (shutout to the TA). All seriousness though, a terrible class. Stohr isn't the most boring but the class is just useless

Took her Ethical Theory class. She is very demanding on the papers and will make you a better writer and clearer thinker whether you like it or not. There is a lot of reading for every class and a lot of writing. Mostly majors in the class. If you're a major and want to get better at philosophy, take her class

I really liked ethics with Professor Stohr. I thought I was going to dislike the class because I didn't think philosophy was of any interest for me, but her class ended up being quite enjoyable. You can tell that she cares a lot about her students and the subject. She is also very interested in hearing what her students have to say.

I love Professor Stohr. She is extremely versed in philosophical issues and discusses very interesting material. She gets to the very core of things and makes you evaluate life in insightful ways. Assigns heavy reading, but explains them in depth in each class. Highly intelligent and always willing to assist students academically and personally.

Professor Stohr is awesome! She's very helpful, and only assigns three papers and a take-home test. She takes attendance, but is very understanding if you need to miss. Class is very interesting and so are the readings.

Lectures twice a week were straight off a powerpoint which she also posted online so attendance was not mandatory. Discussion section attendance once a week was though. Interesting lectures if you are in to ethics and philosophy but could be boring if you are not. Grade based on two formal essays and two take home tests (graded by TAs).

Grades very dependent on TAs. Stohr makes a valiant effort to make old philosophy seem relevant, which she is sometimes successful. Do the readings; lectures are good summaries of readings.

Professor Stohr is a very nice woman and a good professor. She takes boring ethics readings and translates them into contemporary issues Georgetown students want to discuss. 2 papers, take-home midterm and final, not a hard class at all. Sign up to have her lead your discussion section!

Professor Stohr is clear in class but she can sometimes move so quickly that it is impossible to write everything down that she has on the slide. She doesn't put the slides up on blackboard so it can sometimes be stressful making sure you have all the info you need. However, she does an amazing job clarifying what could be confusing in readings.

One presentation on a reading of choice, 2 2-3pg papers, 1 10pg paper with mandatory draft, & take-home final. Very helpful in office hours & clear in class. Pay attention, take notes, & participate in class: will help with papers & final. Readings can be dense & lengthy but she's very understanding. One of my favorite professors at Georgetown.

Stohr is a challenging professor. The course material is complex, but she breaks it down well. Her lectures are coherent and she incorporates participation into them well. Her papers aren't easy, but she's available to help if you ask. Above all, she's extremely competent.

3 papers and a final paper(broken into 3, 2 pg papers) papers were 2,5, and 8pgs.. Discussion section mandatory. Very willing to help! but Having a good TA makes a huge difference! my TA was amazing, got an A- in the class

Attendance mandatory at discussion section, papers graded by TA (so switch into a good one if possible). Lectures are pretty interesting. If you pay attention and take notes at lecture, you don't need to do any of the reading. If you have a nice TA, go to office hours to boost your paper grades. For the record, the hippies are the easiest graders

Attendance is not mandatory if: you do not care to learn the subject matter (you don't really have to know what's going on to get a decent grade) or you do the reading (she regurgitates info from the slides that she posts online). She's nice, but the TA's grade the papers and often do their own teaching in discussion groups...just 4 papers

Professor Stohr is great if you want a history of bioethics and like to look at photos of her kids. Papers were misleading, and the prompts were simple, ill-planned, and trite. A good professor spends time to develop interesting essay prompts. Take Ethics: Issues in Public Health with Emily Evans. Sooooo much better.
