Dr. Lavoie is such a good professor that she made me decide to change my major to Bio-Med. She tells jokes during class and loves bats. She loves her job. As long as you study and do the work, you'll pass her class easily.

Lectures are really boring and her handwriting. I don't recommend skipping class because it will be extremely hard to pass if you don't have a solid foundation in Biology. Exams aren't bad as long as you have paid attention in lecture and done the practice exam she gives out! Rewrites allow you to earn up to ten points which is nice!

AMAZING!!! She really cares about her students. She is wicked smart and the class is very easy if you do your time and work for it! Gives a lot of extra credit on tests so it is hard to fail anything in there!

This is a professor who really loves biology, especially bats. She is willing to take time to explain things if you are confused and grading is merciful- each test has at least two bonus questions and you can get back 10 pts with exam rewrites. Comments are helpful and constructive.

Comment:

Class was usually boring,notes can be tough to understand and they can be all over the place. However, if you take the time to do the practice tests she gives, read over the notes a few times and go to optimal reviews, you're fine. 4 tests all year, two writing assignments. Exam rewrites after every test. Very easy grader! Would deff take again!

Very difficult for me, I had never taken any chemistry prior, even in high school. First half of this course was all chemistry based. Exam reviews are helpful and she is always available 1:1. She is highly educated on the subject. 3 papers, 4 major exams. Study for the exams, usually 5 pages long and get more difficult as you get to the last page.

If you care about biology in the slightest, you'll really enjoy the course. I am taking it as an elective my freshman year and was going to drop, but she's too phenomenal to do so. Really understanding of student life and gives students tons of chances.

Sweetheart of a lady. While her lectures are pretty boring most of the time and her handwriting is terrrrible... she truly tries to give students good grades. She allows rewrites on every exam to gain 10 points back, and she gives good grades on the written assignments

She is such a nice woman. She respect hard work and wants her students to pass. If you make a point to seek her if you are struggling she will notice. She uses the book but her notes correspond with every page in the book so you shouldn't have too much reading to do. Overall, listen in class and reviewing notes would get you a passing grade.

extremely helpful, extremely fun, always gets grades back asap almost amazingly fast- its all about the students even though shes a busy lady she has the time to teach immunology, material is difficult but she offers multiple review sessions per test so everyone can go and practice tests RECOMMEND RECOMMEND RECOMMEND!

This class is probably one of the easiest science classes at PSU. The lectures are boring, but the tests aren't so bad and they are always curved. And plus, you can always do rewrites to make up any questions that are missed. It's an easy way to get a lab science.

I was surprised at the difficulty of relearning the things I was taught in HS. Her lectures are confusing, maybe because they're so boring. She has frequent review classes in an attempt to help, but doesn't necessarily relate to the upcoming exam. Re-writes are key!
