Kirchman is nice but for design 2 her class was very confusing to understand. I would never know how to portray/display my projects and she expects a concrete explanation behind your piece but is very vague in giving directions and what exactly she wants out of them. I missed a project because I didn't get it at all. lol

The best art instructor I've ever had. She truly cares about seeing you do your best. Her lectures about art are both inspirational and highly academic. Her class helped me produce better work as an artist, please take her class!!!

(Ceramics 1)Had to do 10 cylinders, 10 bowls, 10 mugs, a slab teapot, coil pot, 3 random designs, and a food serving dish( I got modular candy). I had 0 ceramic experience before coming into this class. Had a great time in the class, and did okay. Don't know if I'm quite ready for ceramics 2 but I may take it. Kim made it great

Kim is a great teacher and an inspiring artist. Very motherly towards students that she wants to see excel. She pushed me to change my major to art and I feel like it's the best decision i've ever made. Sarcastic humor and constructive criticism. Do the work and spend time in the studio besides classes.. she will recognize the effort.

Working artist who has 2 CAREERS. They aren't jobs to her. She comments without criticism unless you don't do the work or try to BS her. LOVED her class! My favorite reply was "you just keep getting better ideas with each assignment". Turned in an assignment late with no problems. she'll help you out and give you time if you need it. A+ teacher!

I took Ceramics I & II a couple of years ago, and still use some of the work in my portfolio. Kim is a great teacher, and a lot more caring and passionate than other teachers at SPC. I didn't get as much out of the class as I could have, but that's because I procrastinated and missed some classes. She understood, though, and met with me about it.

Kirchman is the best instructor I've ever had. Not only do I love the way she teaches (it's very open and relaxed), but I also love how insightful and intelligent she is. I am positive that I've gotten more out of being in class with her, than I have out of any class I've taken. She will truly help you become an artist if you take it seriously.

While Kim is a great person she was not a very helpful teacher. Learned more from other students in the class about techniques, etc. She also messed up mine and other students' grades and has refused to fixed them though she admitted fault, which has negatively affected our overall GPAs.

Kim is amazing! Ceramics 1 is NOT like high school ceramics and you have to actually work, but it's so worth it at the end of the semester. Kim is a great teacher and her demos help a LOT! Don't wait until last minute to finish your work, it's very stressful. Keep a steady pace.

The BEST ceramics teacher! She's fantastic. Really down to Earth, really nice, and a really fantastic potter! If you're taking this just to blow it off, don't. This isn't your high school art course. But if you're prepared to devote some time to ceramics, I think you'll have a lot of fun and some great pieces by semester end!

Yeah she really does like to talk, and heads up: if you miss class because of personal reasons: she will discus it with the class. In detail! You will hear about the health, relationship & family problems of other students and sometimes teachers. You will hear a lot about her life too. Unprofessional, but she is a great teacher other than that.

Hippy. She understands that people have a tough time when they first start making pots. Nice lady, and not afraid to speak her mind. She might be a little sexest against girls when it comes to grading. She seasm to be more leanient on the guys grades. Overall really fun teacher and class.
