Comment:

Amazing teacher, amazing person, intelligent and if you speak with her about ANYTHING she's willing to give slack. Person who wrote that she was useless is obviously C student and expects teachers to dumb down the class for them. Take her class only if you intend to be educated; ignorant people don't like her.

Comment:

She's very informative, keeps class as interesting as possible with Shakespeare. Shows films or clips of them. However, her grading is so difficult that it's almost unfair. Very old-fashioned. Homework daily, which is fine.I really like/respect her aside from her structure of grading due to how unfair she can be.

She is amazing! She's a real professor, and she really helps the class understand the subjects. There is definitely a lot of reading, but a lot of it is really good and fun to read. If you need help, she is willing to walk you through exactly what you need to do and is extremely helpful and nice about it. Nice woman!

I love her! I think she is hilarious and is a true joy in the classroom. However she does not put up with bull which is why some don't like her. She makes ancient themes and text interesting and relate-able but she expects you to be in class, read the text, and the the work. Sometimes she grades tough but usually when students use spark notes.

CONS: Tough class. Homework are questionnaires that require deep reading and thought. Failure runs risk of a Check-Minus. Attendance policy: Absence counts DOUBLE before/after vacation. No Excuses. Schedule her classes with that in mind. PROS: Allows a cheat-sheet for tests. Knows material and knows how to tell a story. Relates stories to now.

Attendance policy is a joke - you can't miss class before/after hollidays because it's 2 abs. and lowers your final grade. too many books and lots to read. i took myth. in high school and this is exactly like it - waste of time! too bad it's a required course for english majors!

Baffled at these comments.. She is the most knowledgeable professor I've ever had. You can bring up any topic that relates to the material, and she could go on forever. Her intelligence & wit amaze me. LOTS of reading, tough grading sometimes, but that's a good thing if you're actually looking to learn a lot & challenge yourself while in college =]

She's great. I have had two classes with her. If you are interested and don't waste her time, she'll love you. A medium level of reading, but it's interesting. Testing is SO easy, if you know how to write; apparently that skill is sparse at Plattsburgh.

The worst teacher I have ever had. Her teaching skills are zero, the entire class consists of only reading so prepare to teach yourself. She is rude and prejudice toward her students, she has obvious favorite, and makes it clear the students she does not like. Save yourself from an extremely hated class and stressful workload.

Dr. Bergamini is such a wonderful teacher. The class is very hard, a lot of note taking, a lot of quizzes and a lot of reading! But, she makes the material clear and explains what she wants from you. If you want an easy A then this class is not for you, but you'll earn an A if you work for it.

She is definitely a nice lady, but her old fashioned attitude and way of teaching didn't work well with me. I also found that she got annoyed when we didn't know much background information--if I already knew everything about the subject, I wouldn't be taking the class to learn about it!

Dr. Bergamini encourages you to come to her office hours, and she is very knowledgeable about the Bible, Old English,and English language history material. Her class can be dry, though.
