Excellent Professor, is a little intimidating at first if you have for civ pro because he makes you stand when you are called on and cold calls people. However as you'll see all he is trying to do is prepare you for the rest of your law school career. Extremely knowledgeable in Fam Law and Rights of Children. Not a crazy workload and Fair Finals

Horrible professor. He spends class lectures talking about his personal life and stories instead of teaching about civil procedure. He is condescending and picks certain people out and belittles them in front of the entire class - for no good reason. He tends to like guys more than girls and he is absolutely NO HELP outside the classroom

condescending and not helpful outside of class. convoluted teaching of simple ideas. dsnt give feedback on exams; only indicates it "felt" like certain grade. gave useless class exercises meant to teach procedure. required book written by colleague and used once if that. aced test only by spewing his theories and then stating ideas from freer supp.

He has no idea how to teach civ pro. He is a completely arbitrary grader. Most students know the work better than he does. He thinks he is better than everyone he lays his eyes on. He wears tight plaid button down shirts. He cold calls on people; usually the same six. He does not enforce attendance. One of the least qualified professors I've had.

Prof Lew is an excellent instructor - very knowledgeable, clear, and willing to provide assistance. The disgruntled posts on this site are likely poor performers. I had him for Family Law and Rights of Children, and did well under his tutelage. His especially helpful for the advanced writing requirement that every student must complete to graduate.

Very unclear all around. Assigns tons of reading that he doesn't cover. Not helpful outside of class and seems to have his favorites. If you want to learn Family Law take him because it's his field, but just be prepared for stories, not teaching, and tough grading.

Too busy advancing alternative lifestyle agenda an sucking up to connected students to teach family law. What's taught in Lew Land is not what is relevant to the rest of the world.

Not the greatest of professors. Doesent cover any of the material that he assigns, hed rather lecture the class on meaningless nonsense that hes come across when he practiced 20 years ago.

If you want to learn family law, take him - that's his field. However, not the greatest professor; hardly repeats what he says in class, & isn't too helpful outside of class. Generally nice person. Sep.agree./pre-nup project is a pain, assuming your partners are unreliable. Final was fair. Okay class, if you're somewhat interested in family law.

Has alot of passion as professor. Only professor I ever had that required students to stand up when answering cold calls. A little intimidating at first, but he does a good job of teaching the law. Was the best professor I had as a 1L. Final is a little tricky but fair. Doing the reading is a must.

Silverman loves the theatrics of the classroom and holds himself out to be a tough guy but its mostly an act. Don't get discouraged if he calls on you and immediately says you're wrong. He has a deep understanding of the subject matter and uses all the theatrics to ensure that the students are learning and on their toes. His exams are fair

I found it easier to learn the subject matter on my own. Classes did not help my understanding of the material. The only reason to go to class is to avoid being marked absent.

This professor is more interested in his ego than in helping students. He hold himself out as being always availableto answer questions but when I went to his office to ask relevant questions, he was standoffish and acted like I was wasting his time. By the way, I would like to know if he has any experience whatsoever in Federal Court.

There is no professionalism here. He loves to flex on you and then try to be your friend. Write down everything he says and stroke his ego at every turn.

Yes, I concur with the previous posting; Also, his class pace is just good--not too fast, not too slow--about 1-2 cases per class, so that is very good! He also likes to switch teaching patters each year, and it was bad that no real exams (except for one) were on file in libarary.

Not bad if your not afraid to stand up and be wrong. His favorite word is NO and he loves the french. Well maybe not, but his second favorite thing to say is "Leve vous", and then he'll ask a question, and then say NO about 400 times. No big deal, just read the cases AND the notes after them.
