In class there was little to no work ever. She would typically just talk about stuff in the book, and occasionally go off on tangents if she couldn't get something to work. This could be extremely frustrating since college kiddos are typically pretty good at just figuring things out on our own.

Do not waste money on the Nortons field guide textbook! Go online and buy the access pass. She doesn't require the textbook in class, she only requires that you take the quizzes online. Quizzes give you the option of getting 100% every time. Just show up, take notes on upcoming assignments, take the quizzes and you'll pass.

Very narcissistic. Not clear on writing assignments, and she's slow at grading those assignments. Turned on a assignment 3 weeks ago, and i still have not received a grade.

Easy just do your Homework right and turn it in, show up to class. Ive taken alot of English teachers here and this is hands down the best. Shes respectful to the students, she teaches english clearly unlike alot of english teachers ive taken here.

Comment:

She focused a lot on grammar. wish she helped more with how to construct a paper, like teaching how to create an outline or something. However, she did put example essays which was nice. She's very kind and more than willing to help. If you struggle with grammar I recommend taking her class. She was also very willing to help out students.

Dr. Mehl sincerely cares about her student's success. Computer lab time during class hours for working on assignments & so she can proofread and provide feedback was amazing. I definitely recommend her whether you're really good at English or struggle because she provides all tools necessary to earn an A! She's also fun & has a great personality!

Dr. Mehl didn't give any tests. I did not study for this class or do any of the assigned reading for that reason. I turned in my papers and got A's, but both my parents were English majors so I write decently. If you want to learn something, take from someone else. Boring lectures, however.

Great knowledge on subject matter. Provides power points of lectures so you can view again if you need more time to "get it" than you were provided in class. She is good to correspond by email.

Dr. Mehl is NEVER in class and when she is ends class early. She still hasn't graded any of our papers and it's the end of the semester. She is not very clear on assignments or tells you you're doing good and then you get a bad or just decent grade.

Doesn't show up half the time cause she has medical problems. Wish I would've known. Just a heads up sign up for text updates for when class gets cancelled. Also she will really only help you on your papers regarding sentence structure. Kinda a bummer if you need help on creativity.

She seems like a cool, laid back teacher AT FIRST, but her class is: her lecturing straight out of the book for an entire class period, cracking jokes, and just mindless chatter. My head was hurting because I tried so hard to stay awake. On midterm- takes off half of points if not answered perfectly and takes forever to hand back assignments.

Terrible instructor. She rarely came to class and did not return assignments until the end of the semester. I would recommend not taking her unless you want to be worried about how you are doing in the class all semester.

Overall this class is good if you dont want to do any work or learn anything. we only had three assignments the whole time and one was a memo a e mail and our final paper. writing is my week spot so i was really looking foward to this class but one it started it was pointless i dint learn anything. also she cancled class alot.

Her teaching style is very at ease. She isn't entirely clear on the importance of material and is pretty strict with her grading. She has high expectations which makes the assignments tough to get A's on. The teaching style isn't the best with very few notes. However, the assignments that we did do helped me understand them a bit better.
