If you are new to college and want to slack off, talk, text, or giggle during lectures you need to find another professor who doesn't care about your future and will put up with childish behavior. Dr. Nelson wants you to succeed not just have fun. She is brilliant and an asset to the University and to her students. Brilliant. Blessed to have her.

Dr. Nelson is the most intelligent, caring, compassionate professor I have ever had. She was always available to help me and worked with me after a month out of class from hospitalizations and cancer. She teaches ways to understand the information that you won't learn from the book. I enjoyed her lectures and even more one on one time. A blessing.

This class by far has been my worst. Teacher seems to get irritated when asked questions, book is not used during tests anymore. She goes through lectures too fast and does not explain in detail the material. Doesn't really seem to care if you understand the material. You basically have to go back and teach the material to yourself from the book.

Large curve on most test because so many people fail. Terrible at explaining things. I go to a different professor for help and watch lots of online videos. Only way to really learn is studying the book. No homework or quizzes. Only grades come from tests. You can make an A with lots of studying and prayer!

All our tests were open book, yet many students in the class were still struggling and well over half dropped. Not very good at answering questions or having different ways to explain things if you don't understand, so if you don't get it you'll have to get a study group or go to her office hours. Only used book on test day. Would not take again.

One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Tests are directly from power points, which are, btw, open note open book. Knows her stuff. Just don't use a cellphone in her class. Very nice in lab where it's smaller setting, which is also a breeze. Would take again.

Unlike most people, I really liked Dr. Nelson. Yes she was very hard-she will make you work for it, but this is college. Be prepared to study in her class, alot! She's great for science majors and really prepares you for organic. She also really cares about her students. I couldn't afford a textbook and she found me one! She's a good person!

She is a good teacher...but her teaching method requires you to pay attention without any distraction. She has been known to take away phones and books. It is imperative that you understand the concepts at first, as she does not like to stop for questions. Her exams are much more difficult than the material learned. She makes you learn on your own.

Wow is all I can say. She is a really great teacher, so much better for upper level chem classes than lower level. But still, her expectations of students are so high. We are not graduate level students. She hardly has any office hours either. She is extremely smart, and I think she is just disappointed her students aren't as smart as her.

Dr. Nelson is an extremely tough teacher. She knows the material & she has the knowledge but her expectations from the student is way too high. Though, she is a nice person, as a teacher she is not very helpful,k especially in the lab. Please don't take this teacher unless you are willing to work really really hard.

Dr. Nelson has a passion for failing students and her teaching is as clear as mud. Nothing makes her happier than seeing class test averages in the 50s. In fact, she probably gets depressed when a student makes anything above a 90. That being said, if you manage to make it out of her class with a passing grade you will feel like a champ.

I've always considered myself to be a good student, but even with studying, doing the assigned homework, and asking questions I had problems understanding what was expected of me to understand. From a certified science nerd? Stay away from this professor. She is NOT an instructor, but rather a cause for depression and despair.

Dr. Nelson should be replaced with a much knowledgeable professor. Her tests seldom match up the homework and quizzes, her final is atrocious, and she is rarely seen in her office whenever I went to go see her. She doesn't seem like she enjoys teaching because she will sigh loudly or grimace whenever a student asks a question.

In my opinion, she is not very helpful and not very nice. She gets mad when you ask her to explain something that you do not understand. There are times when the entire class is lost, but she does not help. I would not recommend taking her.

While Mrs. Nelson is a very tough teacher, she isn't a bad one. She knows her stuff and will answer any of your questions (in lecture, lab is a different story) if you just ask. Don't take this class if you aren't willing to work your butt off! She doesn't mind failing you.

Worst college experience I've had yet! Very rude to students for no reason. When asked a question, she won't answer it directly. She's even worse in lab, the book is bad enough at explaining directions, but she makes it even worse. Will not help you when it's needed in a procedure. Just sits at her conmputer debating on how to fail you.

I feel she just doesn't really inform us well enough. She is the only Chem II lab prof. that didn't tell her students what would be on the final exam ahead of time. The only really good thing about her class is the fact that she has a sliding scale. I mean you can have a 70 in her class and come out with an A.

I was very optimistic going into her class. I'm an A student. Dr. Nelson is a very "set in her ways" type of person. She isn't very helpful unless you're one on one with her and even then made me feel 2 inches tall. Her tests are brutal. If it werent for her huge curve, I wouldnt have even made a C in the class. Avoid at if possible!!!

A nice person one on one, but in class she's akward. She never directly answers a question. Test questions can be over the smallest thing. Curves a lot becuase so many people do poorly.
