Comment:

One of the most difficult classes I had to take at Moorpark College. However, this class is not a death sentence. If you work for it and study, you will do well. Really do the workshops and study them as well as the vocabulary and you will pass. Again, work hard and you will do fine :)

Comment:

Mary holds her knowledge of the subject in very high regard, however most of the things she mentions from her experiences are out of date. I currently work in the tech industry and found it frusturated that she misled gave this misinformation. However her class was otherwise great, easy, and kinda fun. Do the work, you'll be fine.

Worst professor at Moorpark. She seemed nice at first but she is very condescending and rude.

Comment:

This is the worst class I have ever taken. Do NOT try to get ahead on the research paper because she will rip your progress to shreds. 1 week before the due date of a 2500 word paper and we had to start over because she provided NO feedback until this point. I have learned nothing, and this class is needlessly stressful.

Comment:

One of the least effective, unpleasant professors Ive ever had. Personally rude, unclear on assignments, and dismissive of students concerns. Tests are composed of 75 vocab words, many of which arent gone over at all. Group research paper instructions are unclear, and she will change what she wants from you once youve already done half of it.

Comment:

Mills is the worst professor at MC. She's an expert in her field but should not be a teacher. The programs used in this class are extremely difficult to pass. She assigns the study guide as extra credit, but will not give any guidelines, then marks you down for not "expanding" enough on a term. There are 80 + terms. Avoid if possible!

This is a class that is suppose to be very educational and important. I learned very little and the class is heavily off topic. 1/3rd of the class is a group research paper. That literally has nothing to do with excel or computer programs. Professor Mills is personally unpleasant and rude. Very inflexible.

Comment:

Goes off topic during lectures. Very inflexible with students' needs/schedules. Unclear instructions on assignments. All material can be learned by studying at home, yet attendance is mandatory. Requires purchase of textbook, did not use it once. Very easy class and material made pointlessly complicated and mundane to learn by the professor.

Comment:

Prof. Mills is a highly qualified instructor, and has lots of experience in her field. She comes across as very stern in her lectures, and will sometimes shout when she's really passionate about something. Her goal is to show her students what to expect in the business world, and she does this by assigning group projects.

Mary thrives off of harvesting the tears of her students through her 3 hour long sleep-inducing stories so that she can drink them and have eternal life. You want to learn about how computers work? Great, go buy a book on amazon because you will learn more from one hour of your own reading than a whole semester of lectures from her class.

Literally the worst professor I've ever had to take, goes off topic every lecture, she's lazy & inflexible, even when her procedures don't make sense. Textbooks were expensive and I didn't even need to read one of the books. The class itself is easy fortunately. Tests, online labs, homework, and extra credit are all easy to get if you just study.

This class is a lot of work. She is somewhat straightforward, and strict with her policies, but has a lot of them. That said, she doesn't explain somethings fully, like the end of the semester 2500 word paper. She is passionate about the content though. You need to work hard and spend A LOT of time outside of class for an A thought.

Prof. Mills is passionate about this subject, you will def learn something new. Does give quite a good amount of hw every week. Online labs are also required + her research paper that you will complete with 3 other people. Does give an outline before every exam which def helps out. Miss due dates and hw, you won't pass. Good luck.

Comment:

Learning Microsoft Office in this class was important to me, so I tried hard in the class. Getting an A isn't easy, but it isn't hard either. Take your time, learn the key words from the study guides, and do the MyITLab(it takes practice). The group & ind. projects have unclear and at times contradicting guidelines. Ask ?'s for clarity.

While I'll admit Professor Mills grew slightly on me throughout the semester, I absolutely despised going to class. It's really not that difficult to get a good grade but it was just so boring. The majority of class time was spent answering questions about homework assignments, partly because her directions are very unclear.

Outdated teaching style. Too overzealous about cheating. You'll never get to see any of your incorrect test/quiz answers unless you setup a private meeting outside of school hours. Lots of assignments and lots of reading needed to get an A. Instructions seem clear, then you turn in the assignment and learn about new rules. 2400-word paper also.

I really wanted to give her a good review, I really did. I love computers and thoroughly enjoyed what I learned and I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she's very vague on her grading criteria, and you can't get ahold of her outside class. Thankfully the exams are pretty easy. MyITLab will kill you. An A is possible, just not easy.

Comment:

Tests were super easy. She's boring, mean, and won't give any leeway. What messes students up the most is the research paper she assigns. She grades it pretty much solely on format even though her format guidelines are unclear. It felt like getting a grade lower than I deserved was inevitable. But if you do well on everything else you'll do fine.

Not as bad as some students put. Hated going to her class but tests were easy if you do the study guide and review. A lot of work not gonna lie. Very hard grader. But did all of it and did a lot wrong and still got an A. Gives about 50 points worth of extra credit and sometimes more. But only announces it in class (so show up!)

Comment:

She likes to talk about being knowledgeable in the tech field but instead uses old information and corrects students with incorrect knowledge. It's essentially her way or the highway. She has you write a 2000 word essay in which she makes up her own writing format (based loosely on Chicago style). She will mark you wrong for correct citation use.
