I took a class with Mary at Syracuse University a few years ago. In her class, I learned more about writing, the writing process, and myself as a writer than I had ever learned before or since. She is a true educator who is sincere, supportive, and smart.

Mary saved my writing soul when Forbes tried to kill it. True, her classes weren't intellectually challenging...but intellect isn't all that writing is. She gave me what I needed to get my B.A. in WRRH.

Mary is an awesome teacher. She is extremely helpful and very easy to talk to one on one. She is intelligent and manages to make everything she discusses very interesting. I highly recommend taking a course with her. She is a fair grader and makes you work for everything you get, but it's definately worth it in the end.

Mary is the best -- always thought provoking, more than willing to help. As long as you're willing to work with and develop your own writing process, you should be set -- "one draft only" people may struggle, though.

I became a Writing Colleague under this woman's guidance and am now in the process of following my childhood dream to be a writer. I've taken more than one class with her because she is an unbelievably interesting person - funny and accessible. She's intelligent but not egotistical and she is always willing to help out. I highly recommend her.
