Theis is a horrible professor who goes way too fast for a language class. If you took french in high school you'll be fine but if you didn't youll be extremely lost. She gets really rude when you don't know something or if you ask a question avoid

Dr. Theis is an amazing person and teacher. She will do anything and everything to help her students. She even gives you a chance to take one quiz whenever you are ready and if you don't use the opportunity you get extra credit for the final. She is clear about what's on every test. Give her a break and keep and open mind. She made me love french.

Professor Theis was hands-down the worst professor I had EVER. She was not clear on assignments, she never taught us the language. Whenever I had her, which was for French 2 and 3, it was the only class I remember. There were quizzes every day. I think my worst grade was 9%. She never helped in office hours and her tests were so off topic. AVOID.

Dr. Theis is a very nice woman. Although she knows what she is talking about, she has difficulty getting it out in words! Sometimes it would be hard to know what she is talking about, & she gets off subject very easily. If you go to class & do the assignments you won't have a problem. Buying both of the texts is a must to pass; you use them daily.

Do not take. DO NOT TAKE . Out of the 115 credits I have completed this was the most overly demanding class let alone elective I had ever taken. The information in the class is good, which has been a shame because it is useful and interesting however trust me you won't understand the material unless you read the THREE books and bad references

Dr. Theis's class is NOT an easy A. If you want to learn French and are willing to study, she's the prof for you. I always felt awkward in class, but by the end of the semester I was dreaming in French. The final is 3 parts: written, one-on-one oral, and a presentation. The oral gave me a chance to get to know more about her & she's a great woman!

Took Theis for french twice. She's a very kind woman, and truly wants all of her students to succeed. She's just very scatterbrained. Her lectures are all over the place and usually no one knows what's going on. She assigns a ridiculous amount of HW, like 30-40 online exercises per chapter, and her tests are really hard. Avoid if possible.

She means good, but very unorganized and boring teacher. Her tests are hard because she does not talk about most material on tests, you have to read and teach yourself.

She's very nice, a little scatterbrained, but in a comedic way. You really just need to study to pass. She tells you exactly what's on the test and is always willing to help.

she is disorganized, not helpful, scatterbrained, and says things that make little sense. she does lots of little assignments that are easy but her tests are impossible. she is terrible at managing time, and we've spent the entire semester playing catch up. i've heard she's better when she's teaching french. don't take her for intercultral comm.

Like some other people,I had better expectations for Theis but was utterly disappointed. She is an easier grader than Dewey but that's because she doesn't know how to properly teach and needs to boost grades so she doesn't look bad.She complains about how much work she needs to do for her students but it's her own fault for assigning so much work.

I had two semesters with Dewey so when I went to Theis for FRE 3 I was expecting relief-- NOT. She is a very difficult prof to understand and she does not explain things well AT ALL. Book is mandatory like always, quizzes/tests, but also compositions and presentations in french. Thankfully going back to Dewey for 4, never thought I would say that.

Horrible. She should not be teaching french. Her upper level courses are awful, you do not learn a thing. If you took French in high school, you do not need to take her class. Easy A, but she is so unorganized and scatterbrained.

she's not all that bad, she teaches in french because she teaches upper level classes.. it isn't difficult to understand her, in fact i feel bad that she has to dumb down her vocabulary for students who aren't as advanced.. class was a piece of cake. she is maybe a little weird but nothing intolerable.. i'd take her and get an A again any day.

Awful prof! I had taken french in highschool and decided to take it again in college to make this easier on myself: WRONG. she's awful at the higher levels, completely incomprehensible and will rush through material way to fast. She doesn't even speak French, she speaks Russian, and used to teach it before they got rid of the dept. Avoid! Run!

By far the worst professor I have encountered. No one can understand a word she says in class and therefore, no one has any clue what's going on. VERY disorganized! She cannot stay focused. If you expect to learn anything, she is not the professor for you. I feel cheated spending tuition money on this class.

She is a great professor. Her teaching style is very clear and she gives the students plenty of time to prepare for tests. Even with no knowledge of French at the beginning, I was able to catch on very quickly. I think the university needs to step up the language requirements since most other colleges have 4 credit French classes.

People say she's boring, but I beg to differ! I think at first, it takes a while to really "get" her, but once you start laughing with her, she's a blast! This one time, my friend was talking about writing to his petit ami (meaning boyfriend) and she tried to correct him. He goes, nah, im pretty gay. Her reactions are classic! Kudos Dr. Theis!
