Comment:

Matt a great individual. I am always very interested in what he has to say during lectures, or how he perceives the material that we read. He does not award high grades at midterm (as incentive to keep working hard in the 2nd semester.) He appreciates participation, and never makes a student feel "dumb" after the comments offered. Truly respected.

Matt is easily one of the best and most caring Professors I've had! He loves to talk about all aspects of life, especially the outdoors and the importance of a quality beer! Such a great man with great advice to give. I found that his class taught me as much outside of the classroom as inside.

Comment:

He seemed like a nice guy, has good values and shares them in class. Not the most caring or sensitive person. Writing personal essays and discussing them with him wasn't great. He doesn't respect quiet students. I found him to be borderline condescending and sarcastic towards my writing. Wouldn't recommend.

Matt is incredibly sweet and intelligent. He can get off-track but he's not a very tough grader and he likes creativity. I would most definitely take classes with Matt in the future!

Matt is sweet and always willing to help. He gets off topic sometimes, especially in talking about books, travel, or the outdoors. I had him for FYS and it was a great experience and not much work. He's the kind of guy I'd like to have a beer with.

Such an interesting professor! He helped spark my interest in writing. I improved dramatically over the semester. He brought in outside sources that were fun and helpful. He is very easy to relate to and to talk with about class- or life-related subjects. I would recommend him to anyone!

I love Matt. That's about all I have to say. He's extremely helpful and kind. He always makes you feel that your writing is good even when he is telling you the improvements you need to make. Just an all around guy. He's quite attractive too, which always helps!

he was my favorite professor. he loves his subject, so the class is never really boring. you write quite a few papers, but none are very long or hard, and he is very understanding. i would recommend taking a class from him sometime.

Total awsome prof!!! I'm a creative writing minor and I intend to take every class he teaches. Matt's teaching style is casual and fun and there's no such thing as a stupid question around him. Not to mention he's an alum of the college! He was my adviser this year and was sooo incredibly helpful; I plan to keep him as my advisor until I graduate!
