Comment:
Dr. Richman is a very kind and helpful person. His note package is excellent and well-explained. He offers extensive help and replies to emails most often in less than a day. He seems to want to be clear, but his advice is often confusing and he teaches at an insane pace, speeding through the material. Tests are very difficult.

Comment:
Richman was awful...test averages were in the 40s and were nearly impossible since they consisted of applying things to actual maps, which he didn't teach us how to do in class. When we asked him a question in office hours he told us that we should already know it. Some maps on the tests I hadnt ever seen before...he was just an awful teacher.

Dr. Richman is a nice guy however his tests are impossible with averages in the 40s and the final average below that! His HW is impossible also. He doesn't clarify in class. His HW and test questions have nothing to do with the material we learned.I cannot recommend him.

He is very challenging and expects you to have a strong conceptual understanding of the material. His tests are extremely difficult as they often challenge you to apply theory to actual weather maps.

He was awful. period. I was in his intro to metr for NON MAJORS and he taught the class like it was an upper div. class with way more expectations that any other intro level class. If you wan't to fail this class then definitely take this prof. If you want to get a decent grade without failing every test, then take someone else!!!!!!

Do not take his class! The class average on each test is a FAILING grade! It has not made it above a 50 yet. Unless you feel like working your tail end off just to fail, then be my guest. He does not clarify what he wants on homework or tests. This is supposed to be a freshman level class, however this class is geared towards advanced metr students

A superb professor with high standards. Tests are intended to assess understanding, not the student's ability to regurgitate rote memorization. He is mathematically inclined and expects mathematical understanding from his students, including interpretation of the math (math for its own sake won't cut it). Meteorology isn't easy: it's very mathemat

Had Richman for Intro-1. Tests were impossibly hard, lectures were boring and confusing at best. He's a nice guy, but I can't recommend him if you don't have a very solid understanding of Calc III before taking his Intro-1 class (where Calc II is co-req...go figure).

Dr. Richman is an awesome professor. He is also the best advisor in the Meteorology department. If I had the chance I'd let Dr. Richman teach every one of my remaining meteorology classes...in other words, he's an excellent professor.
