The best professor ever. My first semester at Bryn Mawr was the best because of him. Very clear instructions, kind, funny, gracious, and really works with you. When he assigned an essay, he'd cancel 1 class and instead meet with us for an hour one on one to workshop our essay. Gave excellent feedback. I learned so much and had so much fun

Prof. Tratner is one of my favorites by far. He lets you write about what ever you want, giving you the opportunity to talk about things from readings that many other professors wouldn't give you the opportunity to write about. He is funny and a very sweet man. He tries to not offend anyone but will also crack jokes.

He's always super helpful in brainstorming essay ideas with you outside of class. In class he tends to interrupt students and interject what he assumed they were going to say, which can be annoying, especially if he gets it wrong (and doesn't allow you the chance to clarify)...

Professor Tratner's class is a place for insight, but humorous yet enlightening insight. He's eccentric but you'll end up looking forward to all your classes. Just make sure you write well. He's not the strictest of graders but you need to be interesting and make a big point in your papers!

take a class with tratner! it doesn't matter what class. it doesn't matter if you're into film studies. you will be. just sit back and listen to this guy talk. he's brilliant and fun. movies and mass politics was one of my favorite classes i took at bryn mawr. i still find myself quoting him in everyday conversation.
