Probably the best teacher I have ever had...very engaging. He was not easy but as long as you kept up with the assigned work you are fine. He is funny and kind of quirky but it's all good. Great guy all around.

He is a great research professor. He teaches you pretty much everything that you need to know when it comes to biological research. That being said, he was not very good at teaching our class statistics. He is also a VERY tough and subjective grader, and it's very hard to edit to his particular taste.

Dr. Blaker is the best professor. He is so enthusiastic and extremely helpful. Tests can be hard, but he gives sample questions beforehand, and lectures are clear. He likes to tell jokes during class...but most of them are pretty funny! If you aren't a science major, I don't recommend taking 111.

Dr. Blaker will quite possibly be the best professor you have not only at Furman, but anywhere after. You can tell that the man just truly enjoys teaching. Extremely helpful outside class, very clear in class. Incredibly dry sense of humor, so not everyone gets him right away. If you can, take Blaker. Also a very helpful and cool advisor.

So funny and makes a difficult subject make sense. Logical approaches in lectures and funny guy. I'm in grad school now teaching human anatomy and phys. and I retained so much of the material from his class. I try to employ his teaching methods--definite role model. Worth taking a class to see an example of a good professor is. Hard but worth it

Dr. Blaker is great. The class was very boring material and he presented it in the best possible ways. The project required a lot a time and work but you learn a lot. The homework was fairly difficult but you have to learn it for the tests anyway. My only complaint is the grading on the paper. It is very subjective and hard to put what he wants.

Dr. Blaker is a great guy. He really enjoys teaching. His tests are pretty hard but he curves. Don't freak out when he tells you that you have 25 pop quizzes over the reading and lecture of the night before...because as long as you actually read you will do well and it will actually end up helping your grade. He cracks a lot of random jokes.

this guy is definitely the best teacher i've encountered at furman. good, extremely interesting and well-organized/integrated, overview of biology, especially for med-schools people. i thoroughly enjoyed the class, but, um, getting an A is damn near impossible. i tried. really hard. would do it again.

dr. blaker is one of the funniest professors at furman. he will have you constantly in a good mood... until you take a test. but then he cracks a joke to make it all better. very helpful, knows a lot about biology. just make sure you figure out how EVERYTHING is related in biology.
