Comment:
She took a vacation the first 2 weeks of class then when she came back expected us to attend extra sessions to make up for missed days. Although she did not have a traditional style of teaching her method leaves you unclear of what your grade is. She doesnt use blackboard either and communication is only done via email. Dont Skip This Class!

Comment:
Her class is "problem based" so your grade is mostly you making presentations to the class, asking questions/comments, and leading discussions with a few labs and homework grades as well. There aren't tests besides the final, so its a little hard to know what your grade is before the end. Make sure you always attend class or your grade will suffer.

Attendance is a good thing to have in this class. She's difficult and kind of flexible but it is not very clear about how the class and grading really works. You have to put in a lot of work with the class, but even than a good grade is not guaranteed. Her system of problem based learning is not very efficient.

Comment:
Dr. Small-Warren's problem-based learning approach is sometimes overwhelming, especially when balancing these in class projects, homework and labs. She is flexible though, and it is manageable if you go to class, focus, and pace yourself with the assignments. She will call you out for being lazy or not paying attention, though!

Attend every class! Your grade is based on presentations, homework, midterm, final, and extra credit. Her class is not "hard" but you HAVE to work! The best way to make an A is to have slightly more presentations than others in the class and to participate! You get points for that. I never used my books except for homework.

Was'nt the easiest professor to talk to when you had questions or wer'nt sure. A lot participation is expected so not for for shy people. Read prior to class session. Labs are usually finished indepently so make sure you understand the material well. I don't recommend you take her class unless you have prior geology/astronomy foundation.

She uses a peer grading system and problem based learning. The grade is based on presentations, labs, homework, participation, and the final. She gives a ton of extra credit. There is no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class. Especially if you attend regularly. The extra credit added 10% to my grade. Do it all.

This is the most stupid professor I have ever taken. She gives really hard labs and doesn't teach anything, i mean she doesn't teach anything. I had to cheat my way to an A. Only + is the extra extra credit. But please avoid this silly, asinine course.

Inconceivably dumb class. You learn nothing because your fellow students - who also know nothing - teach you. Stay away from this fluff class if you actually want to learn. More of an exercise in public speaking than a class.

don't take if you're shy and don't like to stand in front of the class for performance (participation) points. the class can't go in depth because of time taken for student presentations, so don't take this class if you're really into the material.

Contrary to the other comments, I found her grading system to be tiresome and in most cases it prevented me from learning as much as I could about the topics. A waste of time. Avoid!

Teaches Planetary Science. She is a great teacher. Her class can be interesting if you make it. She uses peer grading, and you do presentations, but it is easy to make a A, unless you just don't try at all. I recommend her to all.
