His class was one of the hardest I took at HCC, because the material was pretty dry. He's sorta funny sometimes... you'll see him wearing Hawaiian floral shirts and such... Overall, it's not appalling but not inspirational either.

Really interesting and fun in labs but can be hard to understand. He sometimes doesn't realize he's talking over students heads but he makes perfect sense once someone lets him know he's rambling about the physics of an atom. Defiantly take CHEM 100 with him.

he was discouraging and not very clear when it came to what we had to know for the test and what we'll need to know in future classes. often he described things as something we wouldn't understand. Though i think if i tried harder in the class i would've gotten a good grade i just had too much going on, i believe you'd do well if you do the homewor

I think he's a good teacher with a hard subject to teach. I got a D in high school, am awful at math, and now avg. a low B in his class. TAKE PRECHEM and you will do much better in this class, he tells you the 1st day of class! Do the hw and the quiz guildes and you should pass. He gives a lot of ex credit.

Awful teacher. I only attend class on lab days because he is so hard to understand in lecture that it is just not worth attending. And he's a bit boring, and antagonistic towards the students. It's possible he is a nice guy but he is an atrocious teacher. I would not recommend this class.

This Prof. was horrible!! The worst I have ever had at HCC. I have a 4.0 I am not an idiot but this guy made me feel like it. He makes fun of his students and puts everyone down saying that you will never understand the concepts. I have never met a teacher in my life that has told a student that he would not help them but he sure did.

Chem is a hard course no matter who is teaching. However, Prof Santiago turned 74 this week. Personally can't pay attention in lecture because he's so boring. I go to the math lab for help. As of my midterm, i have 84 in class

This class was awful! Worst class and professor I had at HCC. Terribly boring and hard to follow. Treated us like children, yelled at a student that he couldn't leave to go to the bathroom because someone else sitting near him just got up? Completely disrespectful to students when they spoke or asked questions. I DO NOT recommend taking this class!

He is a pretty good teacher. Sometimes if you ask him a question he isn't the best at explaining it, but generally you can figure out what he is trying to say. He is pretty good at letting you know what you need to know for the tests. All-in-all he isn't bad I just think a lot of stupid people take chemistry then give him bad reviews.

This was a horrible class experience class. He reads right book the book that he wrote. If you have a question he points out in his book what he said and that is the explanation for whatever your question is. I would not take this class if you need any advice in Chem. Consistanly explaining how hard Chem is and why you aren't going to get it.

Worst professor I've ever had. He is extremely unclear, is very jumpy with his teachings, and makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Don't take him unless you're amazing at chemistry or you're good at teaching yourself concepts.

Class was ok. Lots of math. Tests could be confusing- questions seem to be taken from different texts so phrasing would differ about same concept. I liked him personally but this may not be the best teacher for anyone who needs alot of encouragement or help with the basics.

Prof Santiago is a nice guy who likes to joke around and will help you if you ask. That said you need to study and you may have to clarify somethings on your own (ie he is a chem teacher not a math tutor). His test are mostly mult. choice. I haven't ever heard him make fun of people or their questions so I'm not sure where that comes from.

He is very unorganized when it comes to explaining how to solve formulas and understanding what things are. i cannot pay attention in class because when i try and pay attention he loses me in about 5mins. he should retire. he can be very degrading when you ask questions in lab or lecture.. not my fav. he is pretty funny though

Great teacher. I thought he was difficult in the beginning but then he explains so it is easier to understand. He is helpful if you ask educated questions. Does not like cell-phones at all because they are rude during class. I agree. Take him if you want to understand chemistry easier!

Santiago knows alot about Chemistry but its time for him to retire He's old so his hands shake so reading his writting is difficult. He's fairly easy to get along with HOWEVER he can be degrading when you ask him questions during the lesson. He offers help with understanding material but you may be better off asking a classmate.
