Comment:
I took Dr. Barker's class because he had good ratings on here, but his class just seemed like a waste of time and I don't think I learned anything important from his class. He didn't have a straight line of thought between his lectures. Most of the time we would be talking about astronomy and then out of nowhere we were talking about something else

Dr. Barker has made Cold War Science my favorite class I've taken so far. He is extremely smart and makes these pieces of history so interesting. He grades tough on essays but makes you a better writer for them. If you have the opportunity to take his class, do it.

TAKE THIS CLASS! This class was truly something special. Barker is an amazing professor and I can not possibly fit in all the great things about this class within the character limit. The only possible thing that I can say could be improved is the confusion around when the few assignments are due. Beside that, you will not regret taking this class.

Very entertaining and engaging. Makes you think and encourages class participation but does not scold you for "stupid answers." Definitely would take again

You can tell that this professor knows his stuff- very smart but often frazzled. Lecture heavy but oftentimes hard to follow because the main points are not clear- so expect many detours before arriving at the 'destination.' He is understanding and patient, not difficult to work with if you need extra help with the material or deadline extensions.

Dr. Barker was pretty laid back and made class interesting. He graded hard on my research essay, but made up for it by basically only having participation grades for the rest of the year. I made a pretty serious mistake and showed up at the wrong time for the final exam and he let me take it anyways. If you need an UD elective, I strongly recommend

Professor Barker was awesome. He is usually very comical with a mixture of jokes, one-liners, and his British accent. His class was interesting 90% of the time with only a few boring days. There are books to buy but don't bother, dont need them. Easy, interesting UD Humanities. Involves only a research paper, research project, and easy final.

He's very nice and willing to work with students. Also, you can tell he really enjoys what he teaches you! You get what you put into this class. No textbook just a couple of books, probably cost around 40 total. All in all a good professor.

He is only lovely to undergraduates to keep looking good in his department reviews. His classes are a joke to other profs because they are so easy. His fancy Oxford accent is assumed as he comes from Northern England. Not one to learn from if you care about the quality of your education.

I took this course over the summer and it was obscenely easy. Barker is a good lecturer, and the subject is pretty interesting. Grades come from essay exams. The topics are given about a week in advance. There was little room to screw up here.

I'm a senior and his Hist of sci course was the funniest most interesting course I've taken at OU. He took the class to the Hist of Sci Library and showed us 3 books that are worth a combined $4 million dollars. NO B.S. I tell more people that story than me meeting Bob Stoops! You will love it!

This class is very easy and interesting. Grades consist of writing essays. Three in class and two research papers. There is plenty of opportunity for extra credit and the grading is very fair.
