I'm in grad school. His undergrad course was harder than this grad course I'm taking. I should restate: Right now I am sitting in a grad course in probability and I know what the professor is going to say before he says it. Dr. Grassi was an exceptional professor. Challenging, but I learned so much, and I am so prepared. Great professor.

Dr. Grassi has been a great mentor to me. I learned so much from him and he has always taken the time to help me succeed, not just in his class, but longterm. I like that he does not let students just get by. You have to work for your grade, but he will give you the tools to do so. He's in the top 3 professors that I have had thus far.

Comment:

One of the best professors that I have had. Many in our class think they are entitled to a good grade. Dr. Grassi will make you work for it. I learned so much in his class and am taking MATH138 with him in the spring. Also, his tests are out of 120 points, so I have no sympathy for those who complain about his grading policy. Great man too.

I don't have a single nice thing to say about this professor. He is absolutely horrendous, blames the students for not understanding what he teaches, and is out to get you on tests. I worked so hard and had multiple anxiety attacks because of his class, all because of his negativity. He's a real jerk.

Horrible professor. He is very unclear and does not explain the material well. Test are very hard and he does not curve. He will make you drop out if you are having difficulty. More than half my class dropped because of him. Should avoid taking him if possible

Does not know how to clearly respond to questions asked from students. Is quite emotional with the topic, and takes student's misunderstanding of material personally. Tough grader, and all over the board when teaching. Not too nice either.

He's nuts. He does not teach he confuses even the most basic formulas by teaching proofs instead of the material. He is the worst teacher I have ever had. I almost dropped out of school because he made me hate college. His year round tan tells me his mind is not in the classroom.

One of the most miserable experiences of my undergraduate career; the semester couldn't end soon enough. Extremely difficult exams, no structure in lectures, horrible grading policy.

One of the most miserable experiences ever in my undergraduate career. I had to drop the class after the first exam..the median grade was a 60 and the highest was a 72... my grade was a 40. How can anybody pass is beyond me?! He doesn't explain any material or go over homeworks. AVOID AVOID AVOID.. and AVOID!

he knows his**** but damn he does not know how to break everything down and help students understand the concept of his formulas makes such a big deal about the most easy stuff cant help on a review cant answer your questions and he downgrades everyone

I absolutely hate Professor Grassi. He's an impossible grader because "math is an absolute science," meaning he doesn't like partial credit, even on lengthy problems. He seems to know the material so well that he doesn't know how to break it down and teach it. He refuses any sort of extra credit, even if it means failing a student.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER. He makes the easiest material difficult. I was told this was an "easy math class." LIES. With him, it's not. His method is extremely confusing and he gets annoyed when people ask questions. His exams are confusing and reviewing does not help. Unless you are very into math and enjoy it, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

It is either you hate his technique or you love it. Here is why I loved it: He doesn't want to make you memorize a formula he wants to explain why the formula is, where it comes from. He teaches a concept inside out. That is where the proofs comes in. He is very helpful. I'd go to his office hours often and he'd make sure I understood it completly.
