I am 15+ years graduated from FIU and Dr. Shepards Business in Society class was one of the more impactful courses in my life. I have worked for PWC,GE, etc. and his words have given me perspective in many decisions at my now Sr. Director level on my responsibility to society and my employees. Introverts should avoid this class; its lecture based.

he doesn't use a book he just talks about his life and expects you to learn the material he only does a review the week before the midterm and final and the questions are super hard to find because you dont have nothing other than the memory of him talking for 3 hours each class. he writes in the board but you wont be able to understand his handw

Horrible, he lectures most of the semester about his failures and frustrations in life. at the very end he gives you the questions for the test. But he is not clear at all. Very hard to understand. You go to class to hear him about his life. He doesn't teach. At the end you have to get in a group just to interpret what he said. Horrible

Please beware of this professor, here's why: -He write notes on the board that are very difficult to read. -Speaks about his personal life, cigarette industry and family. -Gives only 1 test and 1 project. You are unable to gauge how well you're doing. -Participation is a must yet does not take attendance. PLEASE AVOID!!!!!!! THANKS!

No textbook, no reading besides one small book. midterm - 50% final - 40% participation 10% Definitely one of the best professors at FIU. Seems boring at first but his lectures are very interesting. Tests are fair, over 23 of the class gets A's or B's. Never written a review before, but he was that great!

Professor Shepherd is one of the best, if not the best professors I've ever had. His personal anecdotes are extremely helpful to not only the class, but to life in general. He spews so much knowledge it's hard to believe one man knows so much. Don't listen to the fools mad mouthing him, they must be college dropouts. I highly recommend taking him.

One of the best professor in teh school of Business, no doubt!! If you want to learn about Latin America, YOU WILL LEARN, NO DOUBT! from experience to teaching. Recommended 100% if you want to learn. Though 75% of the class' grade is condense in 2 weeks, 1 final (50%) and a paper-presentation (35%).

Good profesor and overall good course. It is more of a History course. I recommend to take excellent notes as you will be tested on the Final on the topics he spoke about. The final is essay response and will expect that you know or have the notes for the material he covered in lecture. This final is worth most of the grade.

Took him in the Fall, awesome guy, I really enjoyed his class. But don't think it's easy your whole grade is banked off 1 final exam and group presentation. 10 questions and you better know what you are talking about or you will lose points. If you want an easy A you won't get it here, if you want some funny stories and great knowledge here it is!

Took the class a year ago, it wasn't too difficult. The guy is about as left-wing as it gets, so prepare yourself for a bit of communist propaganda in the classroom (why he injects politics into a management course is anyone's guess).

Hands down the most KNOWLEDGEABLE Professor I have ever had. He has lived this class in his past. Shares his experiences in Latin America and relates them to the chapters. Comes late BUT sometimes leave late, attendance is you come & go as you please. 1 Final (10 essay type questions) and 1 paper & oral on anything that deals with Latin America.
