A very fun and interesting course. You have to show up to class or you will miss a lot of graded classwork. Take notes and watch the video lectures and you should be fine. Try to answer questions whenever you can so he doesn't call on you when you can't answer them.

Very tough grader. Unless you are spot on and have a creative answer you won't get full credit. Two tests, both are all essay questions. He assigns a lot of lecture videos and readings. Avoid sticking out in class, ie sitting with your feet up or wearing a bright hat, he WILL call on you. He's funny but assigns a lot of work and is a harsh grader.

I really enjoyed the class. Tests and questions are based off what he says in class not the text book. The online videos on Blackboard helped tremendously. Great guy, fun class. Go to every class, you'll do fine if you do that and take notes.

The hardest 100 level course EVER. Essay after essay, and it was like having a lab with all the readings and projects. That said, he's a great teacher with very high expectations. He's a tough grader, but you know you earned every point. Funny, and a great lecturer. I enjoyed it very much.

One of the most enjoyable classes at ESF. Beal is a tough teacher. A lot of reading. Should be a atleast a 200 level course. Do your readings! Midterm is painful. Final is fair. Final project is a blast. Overall, a valuable class with a kickass professor.

Beal is a good guy who is interesting and always has new information. The class requires a lot of reading but it gets much easier as the semester goes on. Midterm is ridiculous but final is easier.

The workload for this course does not match with the level of the course. It should be a 400 level course or Beal needs to reduce the amount of busy work he assigns. Completeley broad course with no real outlined notes to narrow your study time, you have to study EVERYTHING in order to pass - too time consuming, take Dr. Hall instead!
