He stressed that the material was hard but that everyone would be fine... I'm used to getting A's and with this class I was not fine. His class is out of 100 points with only 3 total grades. If you miss ten points within the mid term, a term paper, and the final you're not getting an A. I hate this class for ruining my GPA bc of dumb grading.

boring class. you had to be there or you would be screwed for the tests. tests are essays and he would grade them so subjectively..if you did not say just what he said then it was wrong.had night class with him..he would never let you out early other than after tests..he would stress not to summarize the plot, yet thats what he spent mosttime doing

Rich Blevins is amazing. I just took this class because it was all that could fit in my schedule and I'm so glad I took it. He is funny, real, helpful...just awesome. Take him. Now! Oh, his poetry class w/Vollmer is cool too!

I loved this class. That being said it is not an easy class. I really did not want to miss class because I found it so interesting and he was so funny to listen to. He grades hard but fair. I would maybe get one or two Comp or Writing classes under your belt because you need to know what you are doing when you are writing.

A really good guy. I wouldnt recommend this class if you are an athlete and know you will be missing classes. The material becomes hard to follow and confusing. Im sure if I did not need to miss as many classes as I did, this class would be much easier.

I LOVE BLEVINS. I don't think I can stress is enough. The man is so funny and makes the class interesting. He also is very fair in what he expects. I've had him for Formative Masterpieces and Intro to Critical Reading. As long as you go to his lectures, you'll ace the essays. He gives you study questions that WILL be on the test too- no curve balls

I hated poetry until I took this class. The first half is poetry, the second half is mostly novels. As long as you put forth some effort to read/attend, the material becomes understandable. Tests are essay, but he gives you question options ahead of time. There is also 1 term paper. Really a great professor, who genuinely cares. Highly recommended.

He always says one thing and does another which really sucks as a student when you're left guessing what to do instead of actually knowing.

Blevins is the best professor I've ever had. He's not only wildly intelligent, but he lectures like no other! Attending his class was absolutely the high point of my academic week. He has a great ability to make the course material painless, and always enjoyable. He is definitely someone that I respect greatly, thus I recommend him to EVERYONE!!

Blevins is the most genuine, unique character on campus. He is, by far, one of the few geniuses on campus. He is witty, intelligent, and you won't regret taking his classes -- even if you despise Lit. :)

Yes, there's a lot of reading required in this LIT class... Blevins is by far the best lecturer I've had in my four years at UPG. Rumor has it he's even incited student's to enjoy "Moby Dick."
