This is a confusing subject. Your notes will be really messy. He has lots of quizes. There's like 3 tests total. There's 3 programming assignments, but he's really lenient on the deadlines for those. It's not an easy class, but it's definitely doable.

This dude knows his stuff. We had 2 Java projects & 1 small C# project, since we were running out of time. The exams are not bad if you pay attention in class and actually understand the material. The projects were not too bad, but there is a pretty big learning curve in the beginning. We had no idea what our grades were until finals were over. LOL

Professor Covington is an amazing professor for COMP 110/L. If you want to learn how to program take Covington. His class is by no means easy, if you want easy take Riveira. If you want to learn take him as he will prepare you for higher levels. He will prepare you well for COMP 182/L. All of his notes are online, and no textbook required.

This guy knows what he's talking about. Great lecture notes, talks in a funny monotone voice, cracking obscure jokes every now and then. Three GUI projects, 2 with Java Swing and one with C# WPF. One midterm and one final, both closed notes and difficult. However, he gives past exams (study them extensively) and is an easy grader.

Easy class. For an upper division, it was an easy A. Professor is really chill and understanding. We had 1 quiz, 1 take home midterm, and a take home final. We had group projects with client-server, but we really did not do it. Take him if you are a CIT major.

Great class. Probably the best choice to take out of all of the core-courses since it's relatively straightforward and easy to get an A. There are two midterms, one in-class and one take-home. In-class allows a generous noteset. There are two algorithm presentations (1 sequential, 1 parallel) and a final paper. No final exam. Great professor!

Gives excellent, detailed lectures, which he keeps interesting with jokes. There aren't many projects, and they are simple. Scary part of the class is the midterm/final, which make up 70% of grade together. The two tests are a bit difficult, unclear at times, and he seems to dislike questions about them. If you do well on them, then you are set.

There are 2 midterms, 2 presentations and a final paper. The lectures are based off his MS word document and are somewhat difficult to follow. The midterms are difficult. The presentations are 10-15mins long with questions. Lack of organization made this class unnecessarily difficult but overall good professor.

Excellent Professor would rather have students understand the concepts than have them fail on the test. I love this guy i wish more Computer Sci teachers at CSUN were like him. Very organized. Monotone sometimes but he cracks jokes which i found very corny but hilarous. Very into what hes teaching would recommend.

Very organized and clear teacher. His tests and quizzes are straightforward with no surprises. Very lenient on project due dates, cares more about if you understand the topic than if you hand it in at a given due date.

Well prepared lectures and interesting insights into workings of Java. Would have liked to see more Design Patterns (if you're already a swing expert, this class might be too easy for you). Highly recommend going to class as most material from assignments and exams is directly from lectures.

Good professor if you want to learn about Java. He grades fairly easy on midterms, as long as you have something written on a question, he will give you partial credit. Although he is really behind on Grading. Throughout the semester, I had no Idea what my Grade was, except for the two midterms that we took. Never got back my project or quizzes bax
