Super easy class! Everything is clear, concise, and straight from the book. No surprises, twists, or turns. Everything in the syllabus is what you should expect. It is ridiculously hard to fail this class, and if you do, you just really did not try! He doesn't accept late work so submit work on time. Due dates are very reasonable and consistent.

There's some negative reviews about the guy, and I just wanted to clear some things up. He was a boring lecturer at times, yes, but his powerpoints contain all the material for the tests. Study the powerpoints, DO the MasteringOceanography (it will significantly boost your grade) , and you should be alright. He's not so bad.

Dr. Laws I think is a good person... but far from the best professor. He knows what he is talking about but is often unable to convey what he is trying to say to his students. Tests are often on material not covered in class, on power points, or in the book. Students who were in the upper level Oceanography passed with prior knowledge to the class.

If you are taking oceanography, I would not recommend this professor and if you have him I would suggest switching out early if at all possible. He's not awful, but he's very hard to pay attention to during lectures because he's very monotoned and he reads directly from the powerpoint without going into depth about it.

If you have to take this class I would suggest finding a different professor. The lectures are dry and there is no accommodation if you're having difficulty.

He loves what he teaches but is very monotone. If you go over your notes, you will do well in the class. The test come almost straight from the power points.

The class was usually easy material, it was a lot and Laws made it very hard to learn. He was boring and completely monotone throughout class. He read the slides word for word, which made it difficult to have motivation to go to class. but, everything on the test was in his lectures. nice guy, just very very boring.

Straightforward class, go everyday take notes even though he sends you the power points and you can get an A easy. I got a B after missing days and hardly studying but I studied for the final and got a 95. It's doable and I liked Laws. He likes what he teaches, he knows his stuff, offers extra credit and sends study guides. Good professor for me

Laws is a nice guy but he is very dull, boring and monotone. You don't have to go to class but you have to study to get a good grade because your grade is based off of only 3 exams. Don't take him if you're trying to learn from the professor. But take him if you're good at not going to class but studying hard outside of it.

Worst class ever. If you don't have to have this class, then don't. I thought it was going to be so interesting and fun so I took it and got a C, barely. I would not recommend taking this class. Nice guy but he didn't make it interesting at all. Does give pop quizzes for extra credit which is nice but I went to every class and studied and did awful

Very boring class. Attendance is not mandatory and he posts all of the material online. Test material comes straight from the power points but there is a ton of information so I recommend studying for the tests several days in advance if you wants to make an A. Only 2 tests and a Gina but extra credit given for in class pop quizzes.

Dr. Laws is horrible: plain and simple. He stands in front of the class and reads straight off the slides in a monotone voice. He has no interest in helping students succeed. Limited office hours and difficult to get in touch with. I ended up with a 79.5 and he would not boost it .5 points to a B-. Even my high school teachers were more considerate

This professor is very boring if you have him for a lecture, he stands in front and reads directly from a powerpoint. Attendance was not mandatory because of the amount of people but he gives pop quizzes for bonus points so try to attend class because the tests are challenging. I would not recommend this professor to anyone expecting further help.

Professor Laws is actually really great. He is kind of boring at first, but he got so funny by the end of the semester. He gives plenty of in-class extra credit opportunities so if you don't go to class, you will miss out on them (especially because they are random and unannounced). I would recommend taking him!

At first he was extremely boring but I really enjoyed the material. His tests are difficult, but I made 88's on them by reading the book and studying his studyguide. He gives extra credit pop quizzes during class, so I would recommend going to class until you get your 20 points of extra credit. I really enjoyed his class.

I'm sure if you're a visual learner, you can do fine just reading his power points, but for me, the lack of class involvement (or interest) was crippling. This was the first c I've ever received in my life. I'm an honors student, double major, all that, but this class was just hellish for me, but it depends on what type of student you are.

He lectures from a powerpoint and posts them online for review. I never opened the book once. Tests are not easy, so really study your notes. He goes through powerpoints really fast, so it's hard to keep up with him. Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives pop quizzes that can add up to 20 points to your final grade. Not a hard class.

He lectures from a powerpoint and also posts them online for review. It was very difficult for me to keep up with his pace, so i copied the notes the night before class. He posts an in-depth study guide for all three exams. Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives extra credit quizzes in class that can add up to 20 points to your final grade!

Material is very interesting, but his monotonous voice will put you right to sleep. Tests come straight from the powerpoint so the books is useless. Overall he is not too bad.
