Comment:

Professor Rand is a great teacher. He's clear, he responds promptly and is a fair grader. The homework for ASTRO 101 is clear online and there are many different resources including the e text and power points / videos he includes. Not an easy A or B you will have to complete the homework and do well on exams + participate in discussions.

Great lectures, he made the material extremely interesting. I've never stayed awake for an hour-long lecture at 9 am before I took his class, but he kept it interesting. Has a passion for what he teaches, and he's extremely supporting and ready to help. Great teacher, would take again in a heartbeat.

I really enjoyed this class. Although the content was a little tough, professor Rand gave great lectures, posted all his lecture slides to his website, and provided excellent study guides that saved me when it came to test time. We used mastering astronomy for homework assignments (kinda hard). But gave extra credit for iclickers.

Professor Rand makes the lectures interesting. His lectures and slideshows and really helpful. The online homework is a little confusing. Before tests, he gives a thorough review guide and that really makes the class easy. If you do the homework and take advantage of his review guides, you could miss every single class and still get a high grade.

This class was definitely one of my favorites this semester! Although the assignments were a little bit harder than the class itself, it was a very easy and fun class. If you want extra credit, show up to class and participate in the clicker sessions.

This man is smart and attractive. He is incredibly helpful, nice, and he wants you to pass his class. He emails a review sheet to everyone in case your attendance is poor, so you can still do well on the exams. The review sheets have everything you need to know on them making the tests a piece of cake.

Super cool class, especially if you have an interest in the subject matter. Dr. Rand is SUPER intelligent, explains things in an interesting fashion (by relating concepts in Layman's terms), and infuses humor into his lectures. Recommended.

Richard Rand is really attractive, nice, and helpful. He wants you to pass his class so he's willing to give participation points as extra credit and a review sheet which has everything you need to know for the tests on it. I love astronomy but his cute demeanor made this class ten times more fun.

This guy is adorable! If you're in to nerdy jokes and cool demonstrations, he's the guy to go with. I wasn't very in to the lectures, but there are I-Clicker opportunities each class. The few homeworks are online, as well as several tests where he gives you a study sheet which virtually has every detail you need to know. Definately recommend!

Dr. Rand clearly loves his subject and his enthusiasm is contagious. He will go over concepts in different ways to make sure you understand, he'll email you longer explanations if needed. His demonstrations are entertaining and explanatory. His sense of humor keeps the class upbeat. I recommend him highly!

Awesome professor who clearly loves what he teaches! Very knowledgeable and totally willing to clarify hard concepts. He gives 4 tests including a final, no papers, and in class demonstrations which are really helpful. Uses I-clickers for attendance. I didn't care for astronomy going in, but he got me seriously interested. Highly Recommend!
