Reason why I switched my major. If you are not an art major or don't like to draw do not take this class or any class taught by him. Class is difficult especially to those who have never drawn before or have very little experiences. After so many missed classes you'll get docked a full letter grade. Tons of makeup work

DO NOT take this prof if you are not an art major. this class is called intro to drawing but it is certainly not easy. He gives a lot of work and is not afraid to criticize. This class ads up to 6hours a week for only 3 credits. the only cool this is every other week you usually have Friday off.

Took his class as a Gen Ed in my freshman year. I took a many classes, mostly Gen Eds. I got into his "upper" drawing class meant for Art Majors as an undeclared and he thought my work was fantastic and that I captured movement well. But when he found out I wasn't even an Art Major and I was Undeclared and he immediately stopped helping afterward.

Rick is a really great, understand person. However, the courseload is a lot for someone who is not an art major, like me. I cannot draw perfectly, or exactly how he wants me to, and for that I will probably get at most a B. Great person, but I would not reccomend this class to anyone who isn't an art major.

Rick is very blunt and doesn't sugar coat much. He can be harsh, but he's very knowledgable and loves to help people out if they aren't understanding what he wants. He talks a lot. He might seem BS, but if you work hard you'll for sure improve in your drawing skills by the end.

I wouldn't recommend this class if you aren't an art major. It is a really tough class. And this is coming from someone who is an art major. He is a really great teacher and I have learned so much from him and this class but you have to put in the work. He is kind of intimidating too much he is nice when you're one on one.

If you're going to take an art class to satisfy a credit, do not take him. If you want to be a better artist and are absolutely serious about it, do it do it now! He's a great teacher, his criticism is blunt and too the point. He's often made students cry. However the man can teach, and is actually a pleasant human being outside of the classroom.

Overall, learned somethings from his class. He acts like there is only one way to draw, so don't think about trying to use your own technique even if it works for you. He is very harsh and is a really tough grader. There are days in this class that will drive you absolutely insane.

He is an AMAZING professor. I honestly learned so much from him. Dont plan on taking his class if youre not TRULY committed. Hes not there to waste time and really cares about everyone even if it doesnt really seem like it. Hes also a harsh grader but this course changed me. I also took his painting course and LOVED it just as much. Hes so great

He is harsh, but extremely helpful. your drawing techniques will flourish in his class. As long as you follow rules and don't try and get by without doing work you will be fine. A lot of work involved but the results are worth it. you will become a completely different artist...just make sure you listen to directions and bring all supplies.

Alright, this teacher is not the easiest, not even close, but I must say I learned way more then I had expected. You really do see life in a different way after this class. He can be very tough but thats only cuz he wants you to grow as an artist. What if all of our teachers said thats amazing or nice to everyone would we grow as artists or people?

Rick is great in painting unlike he was in drawing. He made me cry in drawing but he was really cool and supportive in painting, hes more chill and relaxed. for those art majors who dread him from drawing his painting class is better.for those wanting to take it as a gen ed...A LOT of work. Probably not a good idea. Loved the class overall.

This man really is a gift in disguise.Those who complained about him being harsh just have to think about all the things they have learned in his class.He may ride you hard but he does it because he cares and cause honesty is the only way to improve(though he shouldn't call students out in class).Amazing teacher, you WILL see the world differently!
