Comment:

Dr. Heuston's class is challenging but interesting. It is obvious he wants to be teaching and he is never lazy about grading or returning tests and papers. The only reason not to take him is if you are very poor in English and need your hand held by OASIS. If you are an intelligent and motivated student you can make an A in his class.

This guy is awesome. You'll read a lot (but that's going to happen in any English class), but a lot of the stuff is interesting and you'll learn a lot from Dr. H. This is what a real college class should be. He expects you to work hard (if you want easy A's go to CofC) but he'll make you enjoy the class and make you a better writer too.

This is the best class at The Citadel! You learn a lot about movies and it's fun and it's nteresting. Heuston is maybe the best teacher I've ever had, very smart and very helpful, and a great guy.

The best professor I've ever had. Knows his stuff, is witty, and will break his back to help you. He allowed me to take a final when another professor failed to show up. Inconvenienced himself to help me. Learned a lot and he kept us awake. Even as cadets it was interesting enough to stay awake. That's rare.

That's the problem with this site. A bad student with a grudge can lie about a good professor. Insecure? Nervous? Not at all. As for trying to get tenure and keeping up with cutting edge ideas, isn't that his job? If you want to learn a lot and be challenged in a good way, take Dr. Heuston.

Dr. Heuston is VERY intelligent & witty & a great professor all around! He is dedicated & professional with high standards, & he obviously really cares. He will push you to do your best work, but he's really helpful & you'll learn a lot. This was a great class. I wish he taught more grad classes.

Best english teacher I've ever had. The class made me work hard, but I learned a lot and enjoyed it. It was an honors class, so it should be demanding. He's got high standards, but he's very smart, his attitude is great, and he'll go out of his way to help you learn. Excellent all around.

Whoever did the green and blue faces must be a fool. Dr. H. has no ego and grades your work not your personality. He makes you work, but this is college. Would you rather have another teacher who doesn't care and hates the corps? He makes class interesting and tries hard to help you learn.
